Hello everyone,
Welcome to Anime Influence, similar to Gaming Influence, but mainly giving my thoughts on certain anime and anime series with some fun mix of anime-related content on here as well.
For this edition of Anime Influence, I'll be ranking my most anticipated anime in 2023.
Before I start, I will only be ranking anime that will be released in 2023 which includes the beginning of the year to the end of the year as well as anime that is still ongoing heading into 2023. That means if the anime started before 2023, but has episodes in 2023 that is still ongoing, that will qualify. Also, these rankings will not include movies, OVAs, or specials as I considered them separate. Finally, if there is any anime in 2023 that didn't make it on my rankings, that means that I have no interest in them, or I forgot about them so keep that in mind.
Anyway, let's get started!
Before I start the actual rankings, here are some honorable mentions that I'm interested in, but didn't make it on the list:
Honorable Mentions: Onimai: I'm Now Your Sister!, Revenger, Trigun Stampede, The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3, Tsurune - The Linking Shot -, Buddy Daddies, Kaina of the Great Snow Sea, The Fire Hunter, Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, Mashle: Magic and Muscles, Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill, The Ancient Magus' Bride Season 2, To Your Eternity Season 2, The Eminence in Shadow, Spy Classroom, The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague, Kubo Won't Let Be Invisible, High Card, The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? IV Part 2
Starting off my most anticipated anime in 2023 with #20:
Bungou Stray Dogs 4th Season or Bungo Stray Dogs Season 4 in the West is an anime based off of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Sango Harukawa as it was created by Bones and aired from January 4, 2023, and it's still ongoing.
The manga of Bungo Stray Dogs has generally been good as it took a while for the anime to really hit high gear and with the fourth season of Bungo Stray Dogs, it may do exactly that. With the third season, it covered the Decay of Angels Arc where it didn't exactly so I see the fourth season continuing it from there and I think it's going to do great. Looking forward to seeing those episodes turn out later this year.
Next, here's my most anticipated anime in 2023 at #19:
Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e 3rd Season or Classroom of the Elite III in the West is an anime based off of the Japanese light novel series written by Shōgo Kinugasa and illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose as it will be possibly be created by Lerche and it will air later this year.
The light novel series, Classroom of the Elite, is really good, as it took a while for the anime to pick up until the second season where I think the third season of this anime has a chance to be great if done right. The third season will probably cover the Mixed Training Camp arc which should be a lot of fun to watch so we'll see how Lerche will produce heading into this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #18:
Mushoku Tensei II: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu or Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 in the West is an anime based off of the Japanese light novel series by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka. The anime will be created by Studio Bind and it will air later this year.
I really enjoyed the light novel of this series and the anime adaptation of it has been pretty good. The second season of the anime will be covering the Quagmire and Magic School Arc as the series will only pick up from here and I can't wait to see how it turns out later this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #17:
Jigokuraku or Hell's Paradise in the West is an anime based off of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yuji Kaku as it will be created by MAPPA and will air on April 2023.
The manga is pretty good as it's pretty much a mixture of Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. Granted, even though I prefer Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man over Hell's Paradise, it's still good in its own right and maybe the anime adaptation of the manga might change things around. Only time will tell, but looking forward to the anime adaptation of Hell's Paradise later this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #16:
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan or Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story in the West is an anime based off of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki as it will be created by LIDENFILMS and it will air later this year.
This manga series is a classic and there was an anime adaptation of this manga back in 1996. Even though the anime adaptation of that manga back then was good, it could definitely be better. The question is, will LIDENFILMS do the series justice? I guess we'll find out when the new anime adaptation of the manga will release later this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #15:
Oshi no Ko is an anime based off of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari as it will be created by Doga Kobo and will air on March 17, 2023.
Oshi no Ko is one of those underrated manga series out there I feel like and it's only going to get better from here as it's about a countryside gynecologist named Gorou Amemiya who is a big fan of an idol named Ai Hoshino, but things went unexpected for him as Ai Hoshino appeared in his hospital and promised to take care of her. However, a mysterious figure ended up killing Gorou Amemiya, but once Gorou Amemiya, he was reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, Ai Hoshino's son, where he will learn the truth of what Ai Hoshino has gone through as an idol. From what I read in the manga so far, it really shows how the idol business is at times where you can feel the sympathy of the characters that have to go through it. With the anime adaptation of the manga coming out this year, it has a chance to bring more viewers to this series and we'll see how it turns out from here.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #14:
One Piece is an anime based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda as it was created by Toei Animation, it aired on October 20, 1999, and it is still ongoing.
Just like the manga, this anime is still ongoing as expected. In 2022, the One Piece anime covered the continuation of the Wano Country arc where it has been animated greatly. However, as usual with One Piece, there’s filler, but luckily, One Piece is still enjoyable. 2023 will probably continue to cover the Wano Country Arc and I can't wait to see how they animate it this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #13:
Bleach: Sennen Kessen-hen - Ketsubetsu-tan or Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Separation in the West is an anime based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tite Kubo as it will be created by Pierrot and will air July 2023.
Personally to me, the Thousand-Year Blood War arc in the Bleach manga is probably one of the weakest arcs in the series due to its very slow pacing. However, the anime adaptation for this arc has been very well-paced compared to the manga which I appreciate a lot in the first season. We'll see if that continues with Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War - The Separation later this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #12:
Boku no Hero Academia 6th Season or My Hero Academia 6th Season in the West is an anime based on the Japanese superhero manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi as it was created by Bones as the sixth season of the anime aired on October 1, 2022, and it is still ongoing.
After the fifth season of My Hero Academia basically being filler, the sixth season of the anime needs to bring back the fans in a good way and I feel like they did just that with this season. The sixth season of My Hero Academia covers the continuation of the Paranormal Liberation Arc which is one of the better arcs in the manga and the anime adaptation of it was well done. It will probably continue its streak until the anime of this season ends later this year, but we'll have to wait and see.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #11:
One Punch Man 3 or One Punch Man Season 3 in the West is an anime based off of the Japanese superhero manga series created by One as it will be created by Shueisha and will air later this year.
The first season of One Punch Man was great as it was done by Madhouse, but then the second season was done by J.C. Staff as the quality of the show took a dip in my opinion despite them still covering the manga pretty well. The third season of One Punch Man will be made by Shueisha so we'll see if they can bring the series justice in this third season.
Now, we're in the top ten. Starting off with my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #10:
Dr. Stone: New World is an anime based off of the Japanese manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki and illustrated by Boichi as it will be created by TMS Entertainment and will air on April 2023.
Dr. Stone has generally been a good manga series and so far, the anime adaptation of the manga series has been done well too. Dr. Stone: New World is the third season of the anime as it will cover The Truth of the Petrification Saga, it will probably pick up from there and I'm interested in how it will be animated later this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #9:
Blue Lock is an anime based on Japanese manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura as it was created by 8bit and aired on October 9, 2022, and it is still ongoing.
Sports anime are usually pretty entertaining was done right and Blue Lock is no exception. Sure, the way soccer or football is presented in this anime is not really a true interpretation of what actual soccer/football is like, but this is its own twist on it while making a fantasy similar to Kuroko's Basketball. This anime is still ongoing as well and I'm intrigued about where they will stop in the anime.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #8:
Tokyo Revengers: Seiya Kessen-hen or Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown in the West is an anime based off of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Wakui as it will be created by LIDENFILMS and it will air on January 8, 2023.
With the manga of Tokyo Revengers recently ending, it looks like they'll try to keep the momentum going for Tokyo Revengers with the second season of the anime which covers the Christmas Showdown arc where things are about to get physical and I'm interested to see how they will animate this within this month.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #7:
Ore dake Level Up na Ken or Solo Leveling in the West is an anime based off of the South Korean web novel written by Chugong as it will be created by A1-Pictures and will air later this year.
Solo Leveling is one of my favorite manhwas ever and I'm glad to see that there will be an anime adaptation of this manhwa. However, I'm a bit skeptical as a lot of anime adaptations of manhwas have been underwhelming, but it's possible that A1-Pictures might deliver. However, only time will tell, but hope that A1-Pictures does this series justice later this year.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #6:
NieR Automata Ver 1.1a is an anime based off of the action role-playing game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix as it will be created by A1-Pictures and will air on January 8, 2023.
NieR Automata is not one of my favorite JPRGs ever, but also one of my favorite games of all time so it's cool to see that this game will get an anime adaptation. I have no idea if A1-Pictures will deliver, but looking forward to seeing how they will animate one of the best games ever.
Now, we're doing the top five. Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #5:
Vinland Saga Season 2 is an anime based off of the Japanese historical manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura as it will be created by MAPPA and will air on January 10, 2023.
Vinland Saga is one of the most underrated manga series out there that doesn't get talked about as much compared to other series, and the anime of the first season freaking delivered big time. I expect the second season to do the same as it'll only going to get darker and more intense from here as I'm looking forward to it.
Here's my most anticipated anime of 2023 at #4:
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen or Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc in the West is an anime based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge as it will be created by ufotable and it will air in April 2023.
Despite everyone's complaints about Demon Slayer, I personally think Demon Slayer is pretty good and I applaud ufotable for making the animation of Demon Slayer look so good. The next season of the anime will cover the Swordsmith Village Arc which is another good arc of the series and I can't wait to see how it will be animated.
Here's my most anticipated anime in 2023 at #3:
Spy x Family Season 2 is an anime based on Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo as it will be created by Wit Studios and CloverWorks and will air later this year.
With the recent popularity of this series with the manga, the anime adaptation for the series finally came out in 2022 and both parts that were aired were excellent. Wit Studios and CloverWorks really delivered the execution of the series with the animation, the voice acting of the characters, and the music. Looking forward to seeing how the second season of the anime will turn out.
Here's my most anticipated anime in 2023 at #2:
Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season is an anime based off of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami as it will be created by MAPPA and will air in July 2023.
Jujutsu Kaisen is currently one of my favorite manga series and the first season of the anime was freaking awesome. The second season of the anime will be covering Gojo's Past arc as the further character development of Gojo is only going to grow from here and I can't wait to see how it will animated later this year.
Finally, here's my most anticipated anime in 2023 at #1:
Shingeki no Kyojin: The Final Season - Kanketsu-hen or Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3 in the West is an anime based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama and it will be created by MAPPA and will air later this year.
Oh yes, I love my Attack on Titan to me, it's one of the best manga series ever in my opinion and the same goes for the anime adaptation of the series. The second part of the final season freaking ruled and I'm looking forward to seeing how the final part will turn out and if it will stay true to the manga, or go in a different direction. Either way, I can't wait to watch this and I'm hyped.
Those are my most anticipated anime in 2023.
