Gaming Influence: Thoughts - PlayStation State of Play | January 31, 2024

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play which happened on January 31, 2024.

Before I start, not every game that was shown in this presentation will be talked about as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, have nothing against the games, but they're not just for me or it's just that I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you are happy with the games that you care about and are interested in I'm not or have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm happy for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

This PlayStation State of Play will cover PS5 and PSVR2 games that are coming in the future including Stellar Blade and Rise of the Rōnin so let's get to it!

Helldivers II is a third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PC on February 8, 2024.

We've been seeing this game for a while now in past State of Plays and it's finally coming out next week. This game continues to look like a fun shooter to play with friends or with people online to have a good time. We'll see how the overall game will turn out once it's released next week.

Stellar Blade is an action-adventure game developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 on April 26, 2024.

It's been a while since we last saw this game, but after a long time, we finally got a release date for the game and it continues to look incredible. The gameplay combat looks to be a combination of Bayonetta and NieR which I'm down with its fast-paced action. Really dig the character designs especially Eve who does look great and interesting for the English dub, they went for British voice acting which is cool. The music sounds great, especially with that vocal song as I'm pretty sure that's a K-Pop song translated to English which is also great. Either way, this game has the potential to be amazing, and looking forward to trying it out in three months.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a remaster of the platformer that was released on PS3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo 3DS in 2011, Sonic Generations. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 in Autumn 2024.

Well, the rumors are true as we're getting a remaster of one of the best 3D Sonic games in Sonic Generations, but adding Shadow to it which is quite awesome. The fact that it looks like Shadow will get his own levels is awesome and the fact that we got to see Black Doom from Shadow The Hedgehog and Biolizard from Sonic Adventure 2 is freaking incredible. Very curious about how the levels for Shadow and looking forward to replaying the game with new content this autumn.

Zenless Zone Zero is a free-to-play urban fantasy action role-playing developed and published by miHoYo. The game is coming to PS5 in the future.

Well, I had a feeling that this game would come to PlayStation eventually just like how Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail came to PlayStation later after its release on PC and mobile. This game continues to look great and different compared to the other games from miHoYo as it's more on the action side similar to a hack-and-slash in some ways, but regardless, it looks fun to play and I'm sure it'll be great. Looking forward to seeing how the PS5 version of the game will turn out once it's released.

Foamstars is a 4v4 online party shooter developed by Toylogic and published by Square Enix. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 on February 6, 2024.

From what I've played of the game with the beta test they had a while back, this game has the potential to be a lot of fun. It looks like they're going to be updating the game every so often with skins, maps, and characters so that's very cool to see. In addition, this game is going to free for PlayStation Plus subscription members too which is nice. Looking forward to trying the full game once it's released next week.

DAVE THE DIVER X GODZILLA is DLC for the adventure game developed and published by MINTROCKET, DAVE THE DIVER, where it crosses over with Godzilla as the base game will be released on PS4 and PS5 this April while the DLC will be released on PS4 and PS5 this May.

Great to see that DAVE THE DIVER is coming to PlayStation, but the fact that DAVE THE DIVER is getting a crossover with Godzilla is insane. DAVE THE DIVER is really getting some really good DLC as I hope it keeps up. If you haven't already played DAVE THE DIVER and you have a PlayStation, you should as it's a fun game to play as it'll be coming to PlayStation this April with the DLC coming this May.

V Rising is an action role-playing survival game developed by Stunlock Studios and published by Level Infinite. The game is set to be released on PS5 this year.

I remember hearing about this game back when it was first released on PC and heard great things about it so it's awesome to see this game coming to PS5. The combat looks like a lot of fun and chaotic in a good way and I have to say that the boss designs look very cool. Willing to try the game out once it's released later this year.

Silent Hill: The Short Message is a survival horror game developed and published by Konami. The game is available now on PS5 for free.

Holy crap! Didn't expect a shadow drop which is a surprise and it's a Silent Hill game too which is nice. It's very cool that this game is free so I assume this is basically a preview of what we're going to get with Silent Hill 2 remake in the future and if so, I'm totally down for it. Everything we saw with this game looks very creepy and disturbing which is quite interesting. This is definitely a survival horror game which reminds me of a lot of P.T. Man, missed that game and the potential it had. Either way, looking forward to trying out once I have the chance as it's available now and it's free.

Silent Hill 2 is a remake of the survival horror game now developed by Bloober Team and published by Konami, Silent Hill 2, which was released back on the PS2 in 2001. The game is set to be released on PS5 in the future.

It's been a while since we last saw anything from this game, but great to see it again and so far, it does look good. However, I was expecting more from the remake to be in lines with the Resident Evil remakes as of late and this to me as of right now, just looks like a remaster version of the original game on PS2. Luckily, this game is still in development so they have time to make it look better so hopefully, they will take the time to do so as this is one of the best Silent Hill games so it deserves the time and development to make it so. Hope it improves the next time we see it.

Judas is a first-person shooter developed and published by Ghost Story Games. The game is set to be released on PS5 in the future.

The last time we saw this game was back in the Game Awards in 2022 and it continues to look great. This game as of right now just looks like Bioshock, but in a different setting as it has the same gameplay mechanics and combat as well as having the vibe of Bioshock too with its narrative. Looking forward to seeing more of this game when it comes out in the future.

Dragon's Dogma II is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. The game is set to be released on PS5 on March 22, 2024.

I still can't believe that we're getting a new game within the Dragon's Dogma series as it's great to see as it looks incredible. Combat looks like a lot of fun to play, the designs of the bosses in this game look intimidating and threatening, and the customization in this game looks to be varied with the different gameplay styles whether you're into close combat or ranged combat. Looking forward to trying this game out when it comes out in two months.

Rise of the Rōnin is an action role-playing game developed by Team Ninja and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 on March 22, 2024.

We've seen this game for quite a while and we're so close to getting it too as it looks great. It looks like the game is really going to be open world and the fact that this game takes place in medieval Japan is pretty cool. The gameplay looks very fun as the combat looks smooth and the fact that it has a variety of weapons with not just swords to change on how you play is awesome. I'm very curious to see how the final game will turn out and we don't have to wait long as it'll be released in two months.

Until Dawn is a remake of the interactive drama horror game now developed by Ballistic Moon and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Until Dawn which was released on PS4 in 2015. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PC in 2024.

Wow, didn't expect this game to get an actual remake, but that's really cool to see. Very curious to see what they're going to do to update the game as I feel like the original game does still look good and hold up well to this day. However, if they're planning to make changes to the remake, I welcome it and see how it turns out. Hope to see more of the game in the future when it comes out later this year.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is an action-adventure game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2025.

Just like with Judas, the last time we saw anything from this game was back in the Game Awards 2022 so it's great to see it again as it looks like the game has made a lot of progress since then. The story seems very interesting on where it's going to go without spoiling anything too much which I appreciate. There looks to be more combat in this game compared to the first game and I have to say that the character Troy Baker is playing got me intrigued. This is pretty much Hideo Kojima at his finest and I'm very curious to see how the final product will turn out, but we have to wait a year to see it so looking forward to it when that time comes.

Overall, this was a great presentation for PlayStation. We got a great mix of new game trailers of games we already know about as well as great new game announcements that we didn't expect. Plus, the fact that we got confirmation that we're going to get a new action espionage game from Kojima Productions is going to be awesome once Death Stranding 2 is completed. Not only that, we also are going to get a State of Play next week with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth which I'm totally down for. It looks like PlayStation is going to have a very interesting year this year so we'll see what else they'll have in store down the line.
