Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Nintendo Direct 6.18.2024

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll give my thoughts on the Nintendo Direct on June 18, 2024.

Before I start, only some games that were shown in this presentation will be talked about as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me or it's just I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games that you care about and are interested in I have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm happy for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

This Nintendo Direct will showcase games coming to Nintendo Switch later this year with no information on the next Nintendo console so let's get to it!

Mario & Luigi: Brothership is a role-playing game developed and published by Nintendo. The game is set to be released on November 7, 2024.

Holy crap! We're getting a new Mario & Luigi game?! Unbelievable! It's been nine years since the last new original Mario & Luigi game with Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story back in the Nintendo 3DS in 2015. That's insane. Granted, I had a feeling that Mario & Luigi will make their return even with AlphaDream gone, but man, didn't expect it to look the way it did as I'm very curious to see on who is developing this game as I doubt it would be Nintendo themselves. Regardless, it looks great and hope to see more of this game in the future when it comes out in five months.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is a video game collection developed and published by Nintendo. The game is set to be released on July 18, 2024.

We've seen this game already by Nintendo and I had a feeling that they'll showcase it here and I'm not surprised that they did. It was as expected as they give a brief overview of what the game is and so forth as it's cool to see that they made a video game collection for esports players which is neat. Plus, the deluxe edition of the game looks quite good as well. We'll see how the overall game will turn out once it's released next month.

FAIRY TAIL 2 is a role-playing game developed and published by Koei Tecmo. The game is set to be released on Switch this winter.

Wow, didn't expect a new Fairy Tail game coming out, but this is cool. I probably think they did this to help promote the Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest anime which will be coming out next month. Either way, the game does look fun and we'll see how the overall game will turn out once it comes out this winter.

FANTASIAN Neo Dimension is a role-playing game developed by Mistwalker and published by Square Enix. The game is set to be released on Switch this holiday.

This game has been on mobile for a quite a long time now and I was waiting to see if we're finally going to get a port of this game on consoles as we finally got it. Really heard good things about this game and I'm glad that I can try to finally play the game myself as it looks to be an old school Final Fantasy game which I'm down for. Looking forward to trying it out once it's released this holiday.

Nintendo Switch Sports is a sports simulation game developed and published by Nintendo as it will be getting a new update this summer.

Dang didn't expect Nintendo Switch Sports getting another update after so long, but here we are and we're getting basketball too which is awesome. Nice to see that this game is still getting support and we'll see if they can get more sports in the game down the line but looking forward to trying basketball once it's released this summer.

MIO: Memories in Orbit is a Metroidvania developed by Douze Dixiémes and published by Focus Entertainment. The game is set to be released on Switch in 2025.

Alright, this game was a nice surprise as this game looks great. This game is definitely a Metroidvania in terms of level layout as well as the boss battles. Really like the art style of the game as well as it reminds me of Hollow Knight in some ways, but also being its own thing which is quite cool. Looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out once it's released next year.

Disney Illusion Island is a platformer developed by Dlala Studios and published by Disney Content Electronic as it will be getting a free update and it's available right now.

Very cool to see that this game is getting a free update as it looks like they added more levels to the game as well as adding an interesting story to it as well. We'll see how the actual update to the game is as the update is free and available now on Switch.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports is a sports game developed and published by GameMill Entertainent where the game will come to Switch this fall.

Okay, this was another nice surprise as we got a sports game involving the Looney Tunes characters which is quite surprising. Really don't know how this will turn out, but it's cool to see a Looney Tunes game on here with four different sports to play including basketball, soccer, tennis, and golf. We'll see how this game will turn out once it comes out this fall.

Among Us is an online multiplayer social deduction game developed and published by Innersloth as it will be getting a new free update that is available now on Switch.

This free update was leaked beforehand which led to the reveal of when this update was going to come out which I find hilarious. Regardless, the three new roles for this game will definitely create chaos when playing with others and I'm there for it. Very curious to see how it turns out as it's available now for everyone to play.

Farmagia is an action role-playing game developed and published by Marvelous. The game is set to be released on Switch on November 1, 2024.

This looks to be a fun game that mixed in with farming, RPG, and strategy into one which is quite cool. I also like the fact that this game in terms of the character designs is done by the artist who has done the art for Fairy Tail which is quite cool. Very intrigued on how this game will turn out and we'll see more of it soon once it's released in five months.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is a platformer developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo. The game is set to be released on January 16, 2025.

Alright, we got a Donkey Kong game in this presentation. Granted, it's not a new original Donkey Kong game that people wanted, but the fact that we got one is nice. Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii was a lot of fun and glad to see that this game will be brought to modern platforms to players to play. Though, I'm surprised that it's releasing that late to early next year, but either way, looking forward to replaying this game once it comes out in seven months.

DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake is a role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix where the game will be released on Switch on November 14, 2024.

Finally! After three years, we finally see more of this game and it looks like they have improved a lot since the last time we saw it too as it looks beautiful. They definitely nailed that art style while improving a lot from the original game too that will let anyone play. I'm so looking forward to replaying this game in a new light when it comes out in five months.

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake is a role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix where it will be released on Switch in 2025.

Holy crap! They actually did it! Square Enix is actually remaking DRAGON QUEST I & II in HD-2D! This is awesome as new players will finally get to experience the Erdrick trilogy in a new light with these remakes and it's awesome to see, Granted, DRAGON QUEST III is the best one out of this trilogy, but still cool to see that the first three games will be remade and that's exciting for me. Looking forward to playing these games in a new light next year.

Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is an action-adventure game developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo. The game is set to be released on June 27, 2024.

Not surprised that we're going to see this game here on this presentation since it's coming out next week. Glad that they didn't give too much focus on this game since we already knew about it as it's pretty much a remaster and nothing else. However, looking forward to playing the game again once it comes out next week.

THE NEW DENPA MEN is a role-playing game developed and published by Genius Sonority where the game will be released on Switch on July 22, 2024.

Okay, this was another nice surprise that I didn't see coming as we got ourselves another a mobile game being ported to modern consoles which is nice to see. This is pretty much almost similar to Tomodachi Life, but not really. However, if you like Tomodachi Life, you might like THE NEW DENPA MEN. Very cool to see that this game will be timed exclusive to Switch and we'll see how the game will turn out once it's released next month.

METAL SLUG ATTACK RELOADED is a tower defense game developed and published by SNK where the game is available now on Switch.

This game has been on PC for a while now so glad to see this game coming to consoles and the Switch is perfect place for this type of game. Well, while we wait for Metal Slug Tactics, this game will keep us accompanied as it's available now for everyone to try out.

Darkest Dungeon II is a roguelike role-playing game developed and published by Red Hook Studios where the game will be released on Switch on July 15, 2024.

This game has been on PC for a while now so glad to see that this game will be coming to Switch as well. If you enjoyed the first Darkest Dungeon game, you'll enjoy Darkest Dungeon II. We'll see how this game will do on Switch once it comes out next month.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords, Metroid: Zero Mission, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and Perfect Dark will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack as it's available now.

Holy crap! The new games being added to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack with these four are great. Love the variety we have here in terms of the games they showcased here so if you never played any of them before, this is your chance to do so as they're available now.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is a tactical role-playing game developed by Nippon Ichi Software and published by NIS America. The game is set to be released on Switch in 2025.

Dang didn't expect a new Phantom Brave game here, but we did, and it looks great. This is basically the sequel to the first game which was released on PS2 in 2004 so this is huge. This game is somewhat similar to Disgaea and it was made by the same developers from Disgaea as well so if you like strategy games, this game will be it for you as it'll be coming out next year.

Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a game collection that includes games such as X-Men Vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, The Punisher, X-Men: Children of the Atom. Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel Vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, developed and published by Capcom. The collection will be released on Switch in 2024.

Holy crap! Never thought I see the day that the old-school Marvel Vs. Capcom games will be coming to modern consoles, but here we are and it's great! I'm so happy that we're finally getting this game collection on modern consoles and the fact that we can get online for this too, it's incredible. If you guys love arcade fighting games, would recommend getting this collection as it'll be coming out this year.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is a party game developed by NDcube and published by Nintendo. The game is set to be released on October 17, 2024.

Well, I had a feeling that we're going to get a new Mario Party game as we've been getting a new Mario Party game every three years so it shouldn't be a surprise. However, the fact that this game is the biggest Mario Party they'll have yet, oh my god, it's insane. We got five new original boards along with two returning boards from Mario Party and Mario Party 2. Plus, there's an online mode where you can play up to 20 players which is insane. I'm very curious to see the Nintendo servers can handle that which I doubt, but if so, man, that's incredible. Either way, looking forward to playing this game when it comes out in four months.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo. The game is set to be released on September 26, 2024.

Oh my god, we got ourselves a new 2D Zelda game and it's coming out this year! What?! Not only that, you get to play as Zelda in this game which is the first-ever for this series which is awesome. The gameplay that they showcased here for the game with the use of echoes is very unique as you can replicate items or monsters to go through obstacles or fight for you which is quite cool. It looks like it'll be a combination of your traditional 2D Zelda, but with elements from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom which is genius. I can't wait to see how this game will turn out overall once it's released in three months.

LEGO Horizon Adventures is an action-adventure game developed by Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on Switch this holiday.

We saw this game back at Summer Game Fest so it's no surprise that we also see the game here, but it's still shocking regardless. The fact that we got a PlayStation IP game coming to Switch is insane. Granted, sure, it's only a LEGO game, but still. Again, this game looks like a lot of fun, and we'll see how the overall game will turn out once it's released this holiday.

Stray is an adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studios and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game is set to be released on Switch this holiday.

Very cool to see that this game will be coming to Switch as it's one of my favorite games that I've played in 2022. This game will definitely do well on Switch with the portability factor. If you never had a chance to try this game out on other consoles, playing it on Switch is not a bad idea to do so as it'll be coming to Switch this holiday.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is a collection of adventure games, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit, developed and published by Capcom. The collection is set to be released on Switch on September 6, 2024.

Oh my god! Yes! Finally! These games are finally coming to modern consoles, and we finally got Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit in the West! This has been a long time coming as pretty much all of the Ace Attorney games are now on modern consoles including Switch which is awesome. Also, love how they pretty much remade the game, but also let players to play in the pixel art style which is nice. Plus, getting an art alley and listening to the game's soundtrack in this collection is always a treat. Looking forward to this collection once it comes out in three months.

The Hundred Line - Last Defense Academy is an adventure game developed by Too Kyo Games and published by Aniplex. The game is set to be released on Switch in early 2025.

Oh wow, didn't expect another new game from the Danganronpa team after they did Master Detective Archives: Rain Code which came out last year so that was a surprise. The story seems interesting as the protagonist has to survive at the Last Defense Academy for a hundred days with your allies getting killed too in a Danganronpa style which is quite cool. Plus, we got a new mascot with the ghost too so another confirmation with the similarities with Danganronpa there. Very curious to see how this game and hope to see more of it once it's released early next year.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix. The game is set to be released on Switch on October 24, 2024.

Dang, I didn't expect Square Enix to remake this game at all, but it looks incredible. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a remake of Romancing SaGa 2 which was a Japan exclusive on the Super Famicom in 1993. Even though we got the original release of the game to the West a couple of years ago now, the fact that we got a remake of this game is something that I didn't expect at all, but I welcomed it. The game looks amazing as well too as I'm looking forward to playing the remake of this game once it's released in four months.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a first-person action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo. The game is set to be released in 2025.

Oh my god! Yes! Finally! After seven long years, we finally got footage of Metroid Prime 4 as we not only got a trailer, but also gameplay, a new logo, and a release year. Wow, just wow! Just everything about this was well done. The moment I saw the text, I knew it was Metroid and the graphics look incredible as it's almost basically like Metroid Prime Remastered, but even more beautiful. It looks like scanning is back which is a staple to the Metroid Prime series and Sylux finally exists with Metroids! This game is going to be incredible with the music as well as I have a feeling that this game will be cross-gen with the next Nintendo console. Looking forward to playing this game when it comes out next year.

Overall, this was a great presentation from Nintendo. Going into this presentation, I thought we were going to get a lot of ports and remasters and while we did get ports and remasters on here, we even got new original games too which caught me off guard. Despite Nintendo saying that they are getting ready for their next system before the end of the fiscal year which is March 2025, the Switch is going to end with a bang with surprising releases heading into that time frame which I didn't expect at all. This presentation pretty much has everything for everyone in terms of genres, franchises, retro, and modern. I do feel like a few of the games here will be coming to the next Nintendo console especially with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond coming out in 2025 which I have a feeling it will be a cross-gen game, no doubt about it. Looking forward to seeing what else Nintendo has in store possibly for the rest of the year and heading into their next Nintendo console.
