Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase | 6.28.2022

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence which is a reboot of the same name that I created back in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase on June 28, 2022.

Anyway, let's get started!

For this Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, it will showcase third-party games that will be coming to Switch this winter so let's get to it!

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is a DLC expansion for the action role-playing game developed by Capcom, Monster Hunter Rise, as it will be released on June 30, 2022. A demo is also available now for players to try as well.

I expected that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak would show up and I was exactly right. This game continues to look impressive and it's also new content that wasn't shown in the Capcom Showcase a few weeks back so that was really appreciated. A new monster will be added to the game with Seething Bazelgeuse which comes out in August 2022 which is nice. Looking forward to playing this DLC expansion this week as it should be awesome.

NieR Automata: The End of YoRHa Edition is an action role-playing game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix as it will be coming to Switch on October 6, 2022.

Holy crap, I didn't expect NieR Automata to come to Switch at all so this caught me off by surprise tremendously. NieR Automata is one of my favorite games in 2017 and the fact that this game is coming to Switch with all of its DLC with Switch exclusive content is a huge win and I love it! Not only that, but it also seems to be a native port with no cloud version so that's impressive. Either way, great to see this game coming to Switch and looking forward to playing it again on Switch in four months.

Lorelei and The Laser Eyes is an action-adventure game developed by Simogo and published by Annapurna Interactive as it will be released on Switch in 2023.

When they first revealed this game, I was very intrigued on its art style and story with it being a murder mystery as I really love murder mystery games. Very interested to see what this game is all about and hope to see more of it when it comes out to Switch next year.

Super Bomberman R 2 is a sequel to the popular action-maze game developed by Konami and HexaDrive, Super Bomberman R, will be coming to Switch in 2023.

Okay, this was something that I didn't see coming as I was rather surprised when they announced it, but this is awesome. I love Super Bomberman R and Super Bomberman R Online as those two games are probably the better games that Konami made recently so the fact that there's a sequel to it is awesome. Hope that Konami delivers on this and looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out on Switch next year.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is a tactical role-playing video game compilation developed by Capcom which includes 10 Mega Man Battle Network games including Mega Man Battle Network, Mega Man Battle Network 2, Mega Man Battle Network 3 Blue/White, Mega Man Battle Network 4 Blue Sun/Red Sun, Mega Man Battle Network 5 Team Colonel/Team Protoman, and Mega Man Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar/Cybeast Falzar. The game compilation will be released on Switch in 2023.

Yes! About freaking time! Glad to see that Capcom is finally releasing the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection which is great. Granted, not every game on here is great, but the fact that there is a collection for the Mega Man Battle Network series, that makes me happy. Looking forward to playing these games again when they come out on Switch next year.

PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC is a remake of the 3D platform video game developed by Bandai Namco, PAC-MAN WORLD, that was released on PSX in 1999, as it will be released on Switch on August 26, 2022.

Okay, just like with Super Bomberman R 2, I didn't expect to see a remake of PAC-MAN WORLD with PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC, but here we are. It actually looks pretty good, and I do remember this game being fun back in the day so I'm excited to play this game again when it comes out in two months.

Blanc is an adventure game developed by Casus Ludi and published by Gearbox Publishing as it will be released on Switch in February 2023.

When I first saw this game appeared, I was impressed and amazed by the art style and visuals of this game as it looks beautiful with its black and white setting. I also like the designs of the animals here as they look adorable. I want to see more of this game and hope that we can get that soon as it comes out on Switch early next year.

Return to Monkey Island is the next game in the adventure series developed by Ron Gilbert and published by Devolver Digital, Monkey Island, as it will be released on Switch later this year.

Nice to see a new game in this series as what I remembered from playing the first game, it was fun, and I enjoyed for what it is. Happy for the Monkey Island fans and will definitely give this game a shot once it comes out to Switch later this year.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is a sequel to the turn-based strategy game developed by Ubisoft and published by Nintendo, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, as it will be coming to Switch in October 20, 2022.

I was expecting that this game will show up here and what do you know, I was right. Man, this game looks awesome, and it looks like they're improving the battle system from the first game which is nice. Plus, we get to play as Rabbid Rosalina which seems to be a fun character and Bowser which is awesome to see him as a playable character in this game. Looking forward to this game when it comes out in four months.

Little Noah: Scion of Paradise is an action role-playing game developed by Cygames as it's available now on Switch.

This game originally came out on PC, and it looks like it's coming to Switch as this game looks to be quite fun. I generally enjoy games from Cygames so looking forward to playing this when I get a chance as it's available now on Switch.

RAILGRADE is a strategy simulation game developed by Minakata Dynamics and published by Epic Games as it will be releasing on Switch this fall.

This looks to be a fun game where you'll get frustrated when you mess up not setting up the right tracks for your train and everything goes downhill from there. I think if you're into strategy simulation games, this is a game to keep an eye on and we'll see how this game will turn out when it comes out on Switch this fall.

RPG Time: The Legend of Wright is a role-playing adventure game developed by DeskWorks as it will be coming to Switch on August 18, 2022.

I really heard great things about this game as I really love the art style and the concept of an RPG in a comic book sense seems very cool to me as I like that a lot. I'm very curious on how this game will play on my hands so looking forward to this game when it comes to Switch in two months.

Sonic Frontiers is an open zone 3D platform game developed by Sega as it will be released on Switch this holiday.

After seeing this trailer, this made me more hyped for Sonic Frontiers than every other trailer that we've seen so far, and it looks incredible. The Cyberspace levels in this game look to be classic Sonic levels, but in a more open zone space and that has potential to be amazing. This trailer really sold me on Sonic Frontiers, and I really hope this game delivers when it comes to Switch this holiday.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is an adventure life simulation game developed by Gameloft as the early access for this game will be released on September 6, 2022.

Hey, it's Kingdom Hearts expect it's an adventure life simulation game with no original characters! In all seriousness, this game actually looks quite fun, and this game could be successful for Disney depending on how it goes. We'll see how this game will turn out when it comes out to Switch in three months.

LIVE A LIVE is a remake of the role-playing game that was released on the Super Famicom in 1994 exclusively for Japan, as the game will be released worldwide on July 22, 2022. A demo for the game is available now where you can transfer your progress to the full game when it's released.

I'm so glad to see this game is coming to the West as the game looks incredible with its HD-2D style and it definitely shows that Super Famicom/SNES style with this game as I love it for it. The fact that people in Japan as well as people who have played this game when it never released outside of Japan deemed this as one of the best JRPGs of all time putting it high up at the same level as Chrono Trigger, got me really intrigued about this game more than ever. The fact that there's a demo for this game and whatever you do in the demo transfers to the full game once it's released is something that I appreciate. Can't wait to try this game out when it comes out to Switch in a month.

DORAEMON STORY OF SEASONS: Friends of the Great Kingdom is a remaster of the farming simulation role-playing game developed by Brownies and Marvelous and published by Bandai Namco, DORAEMON STORY OF SEASONS, as it will be coming to Switch later this year.

This was a nice surprise on this Direct as I do remember watching Doraemon as a kid so that brought back good memories. Plus, this game looks very relaxing and fun with it being a farm simulation game so a Doraemon Harvest Moon game sounds good to me. Never really played the original game either so we'll see how this remaster will turn out when it comes to Switch later this year.

Minecraft Legends is an action strategy game developed by Mojang Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios as the game will be coming to Switch next year.

We've seen this game at the Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase a few weeks ago, but great to see that this game is coming to Switch as the relationship between Microsoft and Nintendo continues. Very interested to see on how this game will turn out and looking forward to seeing this game come to Switch next year.

Dragon Quest Treasures is a role-playing adventure game developed by Square Enix as it will be coming to Switch in December 9, 2022.

The last time we saw anything about this game was back in the Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary presentation last year so great to see more info in this game. This looks to be a traditional Dragon Quest game but seem more centered around exploration and adventure so that would probably be the difference between the mainline Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest Treasures which seems fine to me. Looking forward to seeing how this game turns out when it comes out on Switch in six months.

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is a hack and slash action role-playing game developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo as it's available now on Switch.

From what I've played with this game, it's good as it's a Musou/Warriors game, but with added elements from Fire Emblem which is a great mix. Not only that, but it's also kind of a continuation of Fire Emblem Three Houses so that was great as well and so far, I'm intrigued with the story as I hope it delivers in the end. Either way, if you love Musou/Warriors games as well as Fire Emblem Three Houses, this is the game for you so go ahead and give it a shot as it's available now on Switch.

No Man's Sky is an action-adventure survival game developed by Hello Games as it will be coming to Switch on October 7, 2022.

I don't know how well this game will do on Switch, but the fact that this game is coming to Switch is great to see as the game has gotten a lot better since launch and this could lead to more sales on the game as well. Either way, we'll see how this game will turn out on Switch when it released on Switch in four months.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is an action-adventure stealth video game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Entertainment. The game will be released on Switch on October 18, 2022, via cloud.

This was another game that was showcased on the Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase a few weeks ago so great to see that it's coming to Switch as well. Unfortunately, this version of the game is going to be on cloud so unless you have great Internet at home, this probably won't run well for you. However, at least there's an option for players to play the game on Switch, but again, it's on cloud so hope you guys have great Internet to play this game on Switch. Regardless, despite it being a cloud version, it's better than nothing, and we'll see how the game turns out when it comes on Switch in four months.

Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions is a tactical adventure game developed by Shueisha Games as it will be coming to Switch on July 28, 2022.

This game actually looks pretty cool as it seems to be a tactical strategy game which I'm totally down for and the art style for this game looks pretty nice as well. Very curious to see how this game turns out when it comes out to Switch next month.

Portal Companion Collection is a first-person puzzle-platform compilation of Portal and Portal 2 developed by Valve Corporation as it's available now on Switch.

When this was first announced that it was coming to Switch back in the February Nintendo Direct, I was shocked as I never thought that the Portal games were coming to Switch, but here we are as we got it and it's available now which is wild. If you never played the Portal games before and enjoy puzzle platformers, this is the game for you and give it a shot as it's available now on Switch.

HARVESTELLA is a life simulation role-playing game developed by Square Enix as it will be coming to Switch on November 4, 2022.

Okay, seriously, freaking Square Enix is delivering in this presentation. What the heck Square Enix?! Regardless, this game looks great as I find the graphics beautiful, the gameplay looks to be fun, and the music sounds very nice as it's basically a Final Fantasy Harvest Moon game. Sign me up for that! Looking forward to checking this game out when it releases on Switch in five months.

Three mainline Persona games are coming to Switch with Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden coming soon while Persona 5 Royal will be released in October 21, 2022.

Oh my god, yes, finally! Ever since Joker was revealed to be a part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it was only a matter of time that Persona 5 would be coming to Switch and four years later, we finally got it and it's Persona 5 Royal too with a native port and no cloud version which is awesome. Not only that, glad to see that Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden coming to Switch as well, but no release date yet. However, the fact that those games are coming to Switch is great. Glad to see mainline Persona games going to multiplatform which is awesome to see, and I love it. Persona!

Overall, this was an excellent presentation from Nintendo. In the past, most of the Partner Showcases that Nintendo did in the past was pretty lackluster, but this one delivered big time and is about the same level as a general Nintendo Direct which is saying something. Despite not having any first-party games here, the third-party games that they showcased here has something for everyone whether it's platformers, RPGs, visual novels, simulations, they had it all. Granted, this might not be for everyone, but I felt like if you're a fan of gaming in general, this presentation ruled. Regardless, great job Nintendo and nice to see you turn the Partner Showcases around for the better.
