Gaming Influence: Thoughts - PlayStation State of Play | June 2, 2022

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence which is a reboot of the same name that I created back in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play that is a part of Summer Game Fest 2022, on June 2, 2022.

Anyway, let's get started!

For this PlayStation State of Play, this was mainly focused on third-party games that are coming to PS4 and PS5 as well as PSVR2 games so let's get to it!

Resident Evil 4 is a reimagining of Resident Evil 4 that originally came out on the GameCube back in 2005 as it will be released on PS5 on March 24, 2023.

Okay, there were rumors that a remake of Resident Evil 4 was happening and a part of me didn't want it to happen as to me, Resident Evil 4 is an example of a game that is amazing and trying to make a remake of an amazing game when it doesn't need it is very questionable. However, since it's going to be a reimagining similar to how Final Fantasy VII Remake is a reimagining of Final Fantasy VII, then I'm totally fine with it as this game will be its own thing while the original still keeps what makes it amazing. From what I've seen so far, it does look amazing graphics wise, but I'm very curious on how the game will feel and play. Really hope this reimagining of Resident Evil 4 goes well and if not, there's still the original. Either way, really looking forward to seeing more of this game in the future.

Horizon Forbidden West is getting a major update to the game including performance mode, transmog, reset skills, ultra hard difficulty, and new game+ (including weapons + trophies) which is available now on PS5.

Despite not finishing the game yet, it's great to see that there will be a major update to this game as it's amazing for what it is and with the extra features that the game will have, beautiful. Will probably get to back to this game soon as I'm glad to see this game doing really well. Love it.

Stray is an adventure game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game is set to be released on July 19, 2022, on PS5.

When I first saw this game back in Summer Game Fest 2020, I was very interested in this game as you're basically playing an adventure game as a cat! You doesn't love that?! Either way, it looks really good and looks very fun too as I can't wait to see how this game will turn out when it's released next month.

The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror video game developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton. The game is set to be released on December 2, 2022, on PS4 & PS5.

When I first saw this game back at Summer Game Fest 2020, this game reminded me of Dead Space and with this game being a spiritual successor to Dead Space being developed by the old Dead Space team, it made sense and man, it looks freaky as heck. At the same time, that's what Dead Space was all about and with The Callisto Protocol, I expect this game to be scary as well and I can't wait as this game will come this holiday.

Rollderdrome is a third-person action shooter developed by Roll7 and published by Private Division. The game is set to be released on August 16, 2022, on PS4 & PS5.

An action shooter while riding roller skates? Count me in! This actually looks like a lot of fun and I can't wait to see how this game will turn out as it will be released in two months.

Eternights is dating action game developed by Studio Sai as it's expected to be released in early 2023 on PS4 & PS5.

I just have to say that this game looks pretty cool and this game is definitely inspired by Persona especially with the social simulation which should be a lot of fun. The gameplay looks fun and I like the look of the characters as well. This game definitely has my interest and I can't wait to see more of this game when it's released early next year.

Street Fighter VI is the next installment of the popular fighting game series, Street Fighter, from Capcom as the game is coming to PS4 & PS5 in 2023.

First of all, I have to say that the logo looks a lot better when they have an animation for it rather than just an image. Also, it looks like there's going to be some exploration in Street Fighter as well which is quite interesting. Very curious on how that will turn out, but I'm intrigued. Also, like the new looks of Ryu and Chun-Li, they look awesome. We saw Luke in Street Fighter V's DLC and they're really pushing him to be the next big character in Street Fighter so we'll see how that turns out. Jamie seems to be a fun new character as well as the fighting gameplay looks awesome especially with those visual effects with colored ink. Hope to see more of this game down the line and we'll see if this game has a better launch compared to Street Fighter V as it comes out next year.

Tunic is an action-adventure game developed by Andrew Shouldice and published by Finji. The game comes to PS4 & PS5 on September 27, 2022.

I remember playing a bit of this game on Xbox Series X and from what I've played, it reminds me a lot of the 2D Zelda games and that's a great thing. Plus, you play as a fox, who doesn't love that?! If you don't have a Xbox Series X, would recommend playing this game on PS4 & PS5 when it comes out in three months if you're into 2D Zelda games.

SEASON: A letter to the future is a third-person atmospheric adventure bicycle road trip game developed and published by Scavenger Studios as it comes to PS4 & PS5 in Autumn 2022.

When I first saw this game back in the Game Awards 2020, it looked beautiful as it has a unique art style, the environments look great, and the music was very soothing too which fits the setting of this game. I feel like this game is coming to be relaxing as you get to explore the setting of the game with your bike while having an emotional story of some kind with the trailer they've showed. Very curious on how this game will turn out and am looking forward to it this autumn.

Final Fantasy XVI is the next installment of the popular Japanese role-playing game series, Final Fantasy, from Square Enix as the game is coming to PS5 in Summer 2023.

We've been waiting for new information for this game for two years and we finally got it as it looks incredible. The UI is well set up, the gameplay looks fun as heck, the graphics are stunning, the story seems intriguing, and the music is godlike. It looks like Square Enix is really taking their time to make this game incredible and with it being released in Summer 2023, I think they can accomplish that. Either way, I'm hyped for this game and this could be the best mainline Final Fantasy game (not including Final Fantasy VII Remake series) since Final Fantasy X if done right so Square Enix, please deliver! Thank you.

Overall, this was a great State of Play from PlayStation. They had a great start with a good middle and a great ending which to me is a great formula of what a digital presentation of video games should be all about. Most of PlayStation's State of Plays are usually average to solid, but this one, this was great and it felt big as to me, it felt like a mini-E3/Summer Game Fest presentation and for that, it delivered. Great job PlayStation and more State of Plays like these, please! Thank you.
