Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Nintendo Direct 9.13.2022

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence which is a reboot of the same name that I created back in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on the Nintendo Direct on September 13, 2022.

Before I start, not every game that was shown in this presentation will be talked about as I will mainly talk about games that I care and interested on. If the games that you care and are interested don't show up here, don't take it personally, have nothing against the games, but they're not just for me or it's just I don't have much to say about them expect cool. However, if you are happy with the games that you care and are interested on that I'm not or nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm happy for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

For this Nintendo Direct, it will show games that will be coming to Switch this winter so let's get to it!

Fire Emblem Engage is the next mainline game in the popular fantasy tactical role-playing game series developed by Intelligent Systems, Fire Emblem, as the game is set to be released on January 20, 2023.

There were rumors about a new mainline Fire Emblem game coming soon and we got exactly that which looks awesome. Very interesting design for the main protagonist as well with the red and blue hair, very cool. Plus, it looks like it has classic gameplay of Fire Emblem with those GBA games with that battle mechanic style which brings me back. Not only that, it looks like you get the past protagonists of the Fire Emblem games as summons it looks like to aid you in battle which is awesome as we got to see Marth, Celica, and Sigurd to name a few. Finally, that divine edition of the game looks beautiful with that steel book and art cards. Just pure beauty right there. Either way, looking forward to this game when it comes out early next year.

It Takes Two is an action-adventure platform game developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts as it will be released on Switch on November 4, 2022.

This game has been rumored to be coming to Switch for a while and it looks like it's finally coming which looks pretty good. Granted, the resolution has been lowered and the frame rate is a bit slower too, but it still looks good and playable so that's good. Plus, this is a great multi-player game if you want someone to play with so this is a good get for Nintendo and we'll see how this port will turn out in two months.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse is a remaster of the same game that was a Japanese exclusive survival horror video game developed and published by Koei Tecmo back on the Nintendo Wii in 2008 as the game will be released on Switch in early 2023.

Nice to see this game finally released in the West as it was Japanese exclusive game on the Wii back in 2008 so nice to see to this game in the West fifteen years later. Not only that, but they also remastered it too which looks great. Generally enjoyed the Fatal Frame games and definitely will try this out when it comes out early next year.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass is the DLC for the action role-playing game developed by Monolith Soft, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, as Wave 2 of the Expansion Pass will be released on October 13, 2022.

The new hero for Xenoblade Chronicles 3 looks cool with Ino as she looks to be powerful which is nice. The challenge battles seem to be a nice addition to the game which should be a fun challenge which leads to swimsuits to the characters which look very nice. Can't wait to see how the new hero will play out as well as the challenge battles when it comes out next month.

Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star is a boxing exercise game developed by Imagineer and published by Nintendo as it will be released on March 2023.

Okay, I didn't see this coming at all, but this is a freaking cool crossover with Fitness Boxing and Fist of the North Star. Would love to get fit with boxing by the Fist of the North Star. Let's get fit! This should be fun as it will be coming early next year.

Tunic is an action-adventure game developed by Andrew Shouldice and published by Finji as it will be released on Switch on September 27, 2022.

Nice to see that this game is coming to Switch as this is pretty much a 2D Zelda game with Soulslike elements with it being difficult and so forth. Regardless, despite being a challenge, it's a lot of fun if you're into those types of games. If you haven't got this game already, maybe check it out on Switch as it comes out in a few weeks.

Front Mission 1st, Front Mission 2, and Front Mission 3 are remakes of the first three Front Mission games which were released on Super Famicom/Nintendo DS in 1995/2007, PSX in 1997, and PSX in 1999/2000. Front Mission 1st will be released this November, Front Mission 2 will be released in 2023, and Front Mission 3 with an unannounced release date.

I was wondering when we get more updates on this series as they announced in the February Direct that Front Mission 1st would be releasing this summer, but it looks like they delayed as it will be coming this fall instead which is fine by me. Also, I didn't expect them to make a remake of the third game as well which is surprising, but I'm there for it. I have to say that the remakes of these games have potential, but it all depends on how Forever Entertainment will do these games. However, I will give them a try as I do enjoy Front Mission back in the day, so hope they deliver as I'm looking forward to the first game in three months.

STORY OF SEASONS: A Wonderful Life is a remaster of the original Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life that was released on GameCube in 2003 developed and published by Marvelous as it will be released on Switch in Summer 2023.

Holy crap, I didn't expect a remaster of STORY OF SEASONS: A Wonderful Life coming to Switch, but this is awesome as I do enjoy this game back in the day so I'm very curious on how this remaster will turn out on Switch. Either way, looking forward to this remaster of this game when it comes out next year.

Splatoon 3 will be having their next Splatfest starting on September 23 to September 25, 2022, with the theme being Gear Vs. Grub Vs. Fun.

I was wondering what the next Splatfest will be, and it looks like we got our answer as it will be coming in more than a week with Gear Vs. Grub Vs. Fun which should be a lot of fun. In terms of the team I'll be picking, I'm Team Grub so looking forward to more updates in this game in the next coming months and year.

Octopath Traveler II is the sequel of the role-playing game developed by Square Enix, Octopath Traveler, and it will be released on February 24, 2023.

Oh my god, this was a big highlight for me as I didn't expect a sequel to this game at all, but I absolutely love it. New characters, new stories, and a new world to explore, I can't wait as I do adore the first game a lot so if it's anything like that, but it improved what was wrong in the first game, I'm totally there for it. Either way, I can't wait for this game when it comes out early next year.

Fae Farm is a farming simulation game developed by Phoenix Labs as it will be released in Spring 2023.

This looks to be a fun fam simulation game that has Animal Crossing vibes to it with the multiplayer aspect to it which is nice. Very interested to see how this game will turn out when it's released early next year.

THEATRHYTHM FINAL BAR LINE is a new game within the rhythm video game series developed by Indieszero and published by Square Enix, Theatrhythm. The game is set to be released on February 16, 2023.

This was another surprise that I didn't see coming as I didn't expect a new game in the Theatrhythm series so this was nice. With more Final Fantasy games that came out since the last one which was on Nintendo 3DS back in 2012, more awesome Final Fantasy music is in it and that makes me happy. Plus, we're getting DLC for this game including tracks from SaGa, NieR, Octopath Traveler, and LIVE A LIVE which comes in season passes with additional songs is pure awesomeness. Glad to see a new game in this series and I can't wait to listen to these songs in a rhythm game when it comes early next year.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope is a sequel to the turn-based strategy game developed by Ubisoft and published by Nintendo, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, as it will be released on October 20, 2022.

This game continues to look great and it's cool that if you pre-order the Gold Collection of the game, you get the Megabug Collection which are skins of the weapons you get the game which is nice. Also, it will also include the Expansion Pass as well and from the Ubisoft Forward presentation, they announced that one of them would be a new story with a new playable character in Rayman which is awesome so I'm looking forward to that as well. Looking forward to the full game when it comes out next month.

Rune Factory 3 Special is a remaster of the simulation role-playing developed by Neverland, Rune Factory 3 which was released on the Nintendo DS back in 2009 as it will be coming to Switch in 2023.

Man, another farm simulation game, but hey, Rune Factory is kind of a big deal as it's the foundation of what makes farm simulation RPGs so totally for this. Plus, we got an announcement that we're going to get more Rune Factory games in development which is awesome. Looking forward to playing Rune Factory 3 Special when it releases next year.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack will add new several Nintendo 64 games including Pilotwings 64, Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3, Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Stadium 2, 1080° Snowboarding, Excitebike 64, and Goldeneye which will be released later this year as well as 2023.

Yes! About time! All of these games coming to Nintendo Switch Online is fantastic especially with Goldeneye with online play, heck freaking yes! Thank you, Nintendo and Xbox, for making this happen, I love you! I can't wait to replay these classics again on Switch, it should be a lot of fun.

VARIOUS DAYLIFE is a role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix as it will be available now on Switch.

Well, I was expecting a shadow drop of some kind in this presentation, and we got one with this game. Apparently, this game is developed by the team that also worked on Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default so this has my interest. Looking forward to playing it once I get the chance.

Factorio is a construction and management simulation game developed by Wube Software as it will be coming to Switch on October 28, 2022.

I remember hearing about this game before and from what I've heard, it's pretty good as you get to build your factory it seems like without making sure it fails with production. Sounds tough, but I'm all for it. Would definitely give this a try when it comes out next month.

Ib is a freeware psychological horror developed and published by kouri as it will be coming to Switch in Spring 2023.

I remember hearing a lot about this game back in the day when it was released back in 2012 so it's nice to see this game coming to Switch as it definitely looks intriguing. Would definitely give it a shot once it comes out on Switch early next year.

Mario Strikers: Battle League will be getting a free update this month where Pauline and Diddy Kong join the roster as well as new gear and stages will be added to the game.

Despite this game having a lack of content during launch, it's definitely starting to add more value to the game with the additional characters, gear, and stages. Looking forward to the update on the game once it's released later this month.

Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key is the third game in the Atelier Ryza series developed by Koei Tecmo as it will be released on February 24, 2023.

I was expecting a third game in the series as each Atelier game series tend to have a trilogy so not a surprise there. However, this game looks amazing, and you even get to ride a dolphin, that's an instant win right there. I enjoyed the other games in the series so looking forward to the third game when it comes early next year.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 3 will contain 8 new tracks including Merry Mountain from Mario Kart Tour and Peach Gardens from Mario Kart DS which will be released this holiday.

Well, I figured this would happen and it's great to see that it will be coming this holiday as bringing in Merry Mountain and Peach Gardens are great choices for the tracks. Can't wait to see what the other tracks will be when Wave 3 releases later this year.

Nintendo Switch Sports will be getting a new free update with golf being added to the game which will be released this holiday.

Wow, I can't believe that golf being added to the game will get delayed as originally, it was supposed to be released this fall, but now got pushed to this holiday. It seems like they really want to make sure that golf delivers when the update is ready, but dang, it's really unfortunate as it's similar to Mario Strikers: Battle League where the launch of the game has not a lot of content to play with. Hopefully, the addition of golf will help the game, but only time will tell. Looking forward to playing golf in this game this holiday.

Pikmin 4 is the next game in the popular real-time strategy and puzzle game series developed and published by Nintendo, Pikmin, as it will be released next year.

Okay, I'll admit, Shigeru Miyamoto got me three times with this segment because at first, when he first showed up, I thought he was going to be talking about the Mario movie, but he only gave an update on it with no trailer at all. Then, he mentioned about Super Nintendo World opening up in Universal Studios Hollywood which I thought he was going to talk about it, but it was also an update on it with no announcement on when it will be opened. Finally, when he mentioned Pikmin, I thought we would finally see Pikmin 4, but instead he talked about Pikmin Bloom which was definitely a downfall in this presentation. Granted, nothing against Pikmin Bloom, but that segment was a bit long for a mobile game which I felt it was unnecessary. However, they did it to promote the main event which is Pikmin 4 which comes out next year! Oh my god, finally! Shigeru Miyamoto said that Pikmin 4 was almost done seven years ago, but now, it looks like it's finally coming and so far, it looks great. The new perspective should be interesting to the gameplay, and it looks like Brittany is back from Pikmin 3 so I'm excited about this game as it's been nine years since Pikmin 3 on Wii U, and I can't wait. Hope to see more of this game down the line and definitely one of the highlights of the presentation for sure.

HARVESTELLA is a life-simulation game developed by Square Enix as it will be coming to Switch on November 4, 2022, and a demo of the game is available now.

After seeing this game, a lot more especially with that Nintendo Treehouse Live segment last month, this game definitely has my interest as it's basically Square Enix's Rune Factory which I'm totally down for. Plus, after playing the demo itself, the game is definitely like Rune Factory with its own flavor so I'm very interested to see how the full game will turn out when it releases in two months.

Bayonetta 3 is the next game in the popular action-adventure game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo, Bayonetta, as it will be releasing on October 28, 2022.

I really can't believe that this game is coming out next month and the more I see of it, the more I want it as it looks amazing. We've been waiting eight years since Bayonetta 2, and it looks like the game will deliver our expectations the more we see it. There was also a gameplay trailer for the game which can be seen on their YouTube channel as it was not shown in this presentation, and it made me even more excited for the game as the gameplay looks so smooth and fun to play. With the gameplay trailer being seven minutes long, would understand why Nintendo wouldn't put it in the Nintendo Direct here, but it would've been nice if they did. Regardless, excited for this game and I can't wait to play it next month.

Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE is a dark fantasy detective action game developed by Spike Chunsoft as it will be coming to Switch in Spring 2023.

When they've announced that this game was developed by the team who made Danganronpa, it's an automatic interest for me as I love the Danganronpa games and usually games by Spike Chunsoft are quite fun so I'm excited for this one. This game looks to be a combination of Danganronpa and an action game which I'm totally for and it looks great. Hope to see more of this game in the future when it comes out early next year.

Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 will be coming to Switch via cloud gaming. Resident Evil Village comes out on Switch on October 28, 2022, with a free demo available now as well as the Winters' Expansion Pass will be released on December 2, 2022. Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 will come out on Switch later this year.

Even though seeing these games on Switch is quite cool, the sad news is that they're cloud versions which sucks. Unless you have great Internet connection, this won't be the best experience to play these games on Switch as I would recommend playing it on other consoles. Regardless, nice to see these games on Switch and if you haven't tried out these games yet and only have a Switch, I would say go for it, but would definitely recommend playing these games on other consoles. Either way, cool to see these games coming to Switch even though they're cloud versions.

Sifu is an action roguelike beat 'em up game developed and published by Sloclap as it will be coming to Switch on November 8, 2022.

Dang, I didn't expect this game to come to Switch at all so this was a nice surprise. From what I've played with this game, it's definitely a lot of fun and I'm very curious on how this game will play on Switch. We'll see how it turns out on Switch when it's released in two months.

CRISIS CORE - FINAL FANTASY VII - REUNION is a remaster of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII that was released back in 2007 on the PSP as it will be coming to Switch on December 13, 2022.

I still can't believe that this game is real and supposedly, this is a remaster of the game, but yet it looks like a total remake. Regardless, I'm really hyped to play this game again with these improvements and it's going to be awesome as I wait for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth next winter when this game comes out in three months.

Radiant Silvergun is a shoot em' up developed by Treasure that was released on arcades and Sega Saturn in 1998 which is now available on Switch.

Wow, another surprise that I didn't see coming, but nice to see this game coming to Switch as this is a classic shoot em'up game back in the arcades and Sega Saturn days. Very curious on how this game will turn out on Switch and it's available now on Switch so if you're into shoot em' up games, give this one a try, it will be fun.

Endless Dungeon is a tower defense twin-stick shooter developed by Amplitude Studios and published by Sega as it will be coming to Switch next year.

We have seen footage of this game from Summer Game Fest, Gamescom Opening Night Live, and Game Awards for a while now and the more I see of it, the more I'm interested in the game. We'll see how this game will turn out when it comes out on Switch next year.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered is a remaster of the classic action role-playing game developed by Bandai Namco on the GameCube in 2003 which will be coming to Switch early 2023.

Man, this was another big surprise for me here as I adore this game back in the GameCube days and this to me, is one of the best Tales games ever so if you're interested in the game, would recommend checking this game out as it's a really good JRPG. I'll probably play this game again on Switch and I'm interested to see how this game will turn out as it will be coming to Switch early next year.

Life is Strange: Arcadia Bay Collection is a collection of two games from the Life is Strange series including Life is Strange and Life is Strange 2 which will be coming to Switch on September 27, 2022.

It was only a matter of time before we see more of this collection as it was supposed to come out on Switch, and we finally got a release date which is nice to see. We'll see how this collection will turn out when it comes to Switch in two weeks.

Romancing SaGA - Minstrel Song - Remastered is a remaster of the role-playing game developed by Square Enix that was released on PS2 in 2005 as it will be coming to Switch on December 1, 2022.

Nice to see that more SaGa games are coming to Switch and yet this is another one which is great to see. Glad to see that the SaGa series is getting more attention from Square Enix again and hope this game turns out well on Switch as it will be releasing in three months.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a remake of the platformer developed by HAL Laboratory that was released on Wii back in 2011, as it will be coming to Switch on February 24, 2022.

Okay, this was another big surprise that I didn't see coming which caught me off guard, but I love it. They are pretty much remaking the game from the ground up too with the visuals, the mech copy ability, and the minigames which is nice to see. I enjoy this game back on the Wii and I'm looking forward to replaying this game on Switch when it releases early next year.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the sequel to the popular action-adventure game developed by Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as it will be released on May 12, 2023.

Oh my god, yes! Finally! After three years since the game was revealed, we finally got a title for the game and it's a pretty good one with Tears of the Kingdom. Though, I questioned why they didn't reveal the name of the title, but I feel like it's more of the logo than the title itself as the Master Sword seem to be broken so I guess that's a big spoiler right there because generally, the Master Sword is unbreakable so seeing it vulnerable here is quite surprising. Either way, this game looks amazing and the fact that we finally got a release date for this game too which comes out in May of next year is exciting. I can't wait for this game to come out as it's going to be amazing.

Overall, this was a great presentation from Nintendo. To me, there were some nice surprises, some great trailers and announcements as well as some big moments here that we've been waiting for a long time like Pikmin 4 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom which was great. However, there was a bit of pacing issues with this presentation especially with that segment with Pikmin Bloom which I felt was very unnecessary which kind of lost steam for a bit. Now, I understand why they did it as they were trying to promote the game, but again, I felt like this could've been done in a Twitter drop or a separate trailer on YouTube. However, that's just me. In addition, I did feel like there were a lot of farming simulation games in this presentation which granted, there were like four farming simulation games on this presentation, but it's a lot more than normal, that's for sure. However, to me, like always, I feel like there was something for everyone in this presentation which is great. Granted, if the game that you wanted didn't show up here, I understand your disappointment and I hope you get the game that you want down the line. As for me though, not only that I'm a huge Nintendo fan, but also a fan of video games, so I got wanted with lots of variety which I appreciate.
