Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, I will not only be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series but also on video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.
I'll give my thoughts on the Game Awards 2024 on December 12, 2024, for this edition of Gaming Influence.
Before I start, only some games shown in this presentation will be discussed as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me or I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games you care about and are interested in I have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm so glad for you.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is an action-adventure game developed by The Game Kitchen and published by Dotemu. The game is set to be released on PC in the future.
Oh my god! I didn't expect a new Ninja Gaiden game, and the fact that Dotemu is publishing this game is quite interesting as well. I really love the art style, and it looks like it has the classic Ninja Gaiden gameplay on there, which is a nice bonus. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this game when it comes out.
DAVE THE DIVER: In The Jungle is DLC for the role-playing simulation game developed and published by Mintrocket, DAVE THE DIVER. The DLC is planned to be released on Switch, PS5, PS4, and PC in late 2025.
Dang, I didn't expect DAVE THE DIVER to get another DLC expansion here and it looks to be a big one if it's not coming in until late next year. Very curious to see what new elements might be added within this DLC. Regardless, hope to see more once it's release late next year.
Shadow Labyrinth is a 2D action platformer developed and published by Bandai Namco where the game will be released on Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2025.
A Metroidvania PAC-MAN game?! Sign me up! This actually looks quite fun and very unique as PAC-MAN is the player's companion and PAC-MAN can help the player fight against certain enemies and go through certain obstacles which are quite cool and different from PAC-MAN. Definitely want to see more of this game down the line and hope that we see it once it comes out next year.
Tales of the Shire: A Lord of The Rings Game is a life simulation game developed by Wētā Workshop and published by Private Division. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC on March 25, 2025.
We've seen this game numerous times in past presentations and we finally got a release date for the game which is coming out sooner than expected. I'm still kind of surprised to see this type of game coming from Lord of The Rings, but hey, variety is great and this should be a fun cozy game. We'll see how this game will turn out once it's released in three months.
REMATCH is a sports game developed and published by Sloclap where the game will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in Summer 2025.
Wow, I didn't expect the creators of Sifu to make a soccer game, but it actually looks quite fun. It still has the art style of Sifu and this looks to be a fun game with co-op and online so that's great to see. Very curious to see how this game will turn out overall and hope to see more of it soon once it's released next summer.
Solasta II is a role-playing game developed and published by Tactical Adventures where it will be released for early access on PC in 2025.
Very cool to see that this game will be getting a sequel as the first Solasta game was pretty good. The fact that this game is also getting a demo in the future is quite cool as well. We'll see how this game will turn out once it's released for early access next year.
The Witcher IV is an action role-playing game developed and published by CD Projekt where the game will be released in the future.
Wow, this is a way to start the game. Granted, no gameplay here, but it feels like this game is far in development so that's fine. However, this a big game to start off the main show and it looks great for what we have seen so far which looks incredible. Very curious to see how this game will turn out and hope to see more information on this soon.
ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco. The game is set to be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2025.
What?! There's going to be another Elden Ring game and it's coming out next year?! My goodness. Plus, this game looks to be co-op too where you hunt monsters it seems like so it's similar to Monster Hunter in a way that is insane. The fact that this game is coming out next year too is wild and I can't wait to see more of it in the future.
A new action-adventure game developed by genDESIGN and published by Epic Games where the game is set to be released in the future.
Despite this game not having a release year, gameplay, or even a title, the fact that this game is made by genDESIGN which is the team that did ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, you know this game is going to be good and a game that is going to be very special. This honestly looks like a sci-fi Shadow of the Colossus game which I'm totally down for. A huge surprise here and I want to see more of this game if possible. Looking forward to it and great to see genDESIGN back with a new game.
The Outer Worlds 2 is a first-person sci-fi role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X, PC, and PS5 in 2025.
It's been a few years since we last saw anything from this game, but glad to see this game again and we even got gameplay in this which is great. The gameplay looks fun, the graphics look beautiful, and the world looks to be more expansive compared to the first game which is quite cool. Also, the game is coming to PS5 as well which looks like this game is no longer Xbox exclusive so that's quite interesting. Regardless, we'll see how this game will turn out once it's released next year.
Split Fiction is an action-adventure game developed by Hazelight Studios and published by EA. The game is set to be released on PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5 on March 6, 2025.
It Takes Two was a fun co-op game and this game looks to take it to the next level. The amount of activities you can do in this game is quite incredible and it looks to be a lot of fun as well. This is definitely a game you want to play with someone else to have the full experience. Looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out overall once it comes out in three months.
Borderlands 4 is a mayhem-fueled looter shooter developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. The game is set to be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in 2025.
We got an announcement for this back at Gamescom Opening Night Live earlier this year and we finally got to see gameplay of it as it looks incredible. It still has that art style that makes it look like Borderlands and the gameplay looks to be a lot of fun as usual. Very curious to see how the game will turn out in the end and hope to see more of it once it's released next year.
Tekken 8 is a fighting game developed and published by Bandai Namco where Clive Rosfield from Final Fantasy XVI, will be a DLC fighter for the game as it will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on December 16, 2024.
Well, the moment Bandai Namco announced that they'll be introducing the next DLC fighter at The Game Awards, I knew it had to be someone huge and it turns out it was. Granted, I wanted Tifa from Final Fantasy VII to be in Tekken 8, but Clive is a great choice and this is pretty much deja vu with Noctis from Final Fantasy XV joining Tekken 7. His gameplay looks great and his model looks great as well. Can't wait to play as him and by the time you read this, he'll already be out so it's going to be fun.
Mecha BREAK is a multiplayer mech game developed and published by Amazing Seasun Games where the game will be released on PC and Xbox Series X in Spring 2025.
We've seen this game numerous times in past presentations, but we finally got a release window for the game which is great to see. This continues to look to be a fun co-op mech game with lots of customization among the mechs in terms of appearances and gameplay styles. We'll see how this game will turn out once it's released next spring.
A new Virtua Fighter, a fighting game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega, where it will be released with unannounced consoles in the future.
Holy crap! Virtua Fighter is back and they're being made by the Like a Dragon team?! That's huge! We haven't had a new original Virtua Fighter since Virtua Fighter 5 that was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2006. It's been eighteen years since then and we've only been getting ports and remasters of past Virtua Fighter games during that time so this is quite big. Plus, the fact that the Like a Dragon developer is developing this game is huge and I expect it to be awesome. Can't wait to see more and looking forward to it.
Project Century is an action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega where the game will be released on unannounced consoles in the future.
Oh my god! We're getting a Like a Dragon game that is set in 1915 with the classic Yazuka gameplay is awesome! Really love the vibes on the game and it'll be very interesting to see where they will go with this. Either way, love the environment that the game is in, the gameplay is classic Yakuza with the action beat 'em up and the music is quite catchy as well. Looking forward to seeing more and the freaking Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are killing it! Hope they can keep it up.
Turok: Origins is an action-adventure game developed and published by Saber Interactive where the game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in the future.
Oh wow, didn't expect an origin Turok game, but here we are. It actually looks pretty good in terms of graphics and gameplay as it definitely looks like Turok which is a great thing. Plus, the dinosaur design of this game looks pretty sick too. Looking forward to seeing more of this game and how it'll turn out in the future.
Helldivers II: Omens of Tyranny is an update on the cooperative third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Helldivers II. The update is available now on PS5 and PC.
Great to see that this game will continue to get updates and what a turnaround for this game ever since it launched. The new faction that they added to the game is quite interesting and I'm very curious to see how this update will turn out overall for the game. Regardless, the update is available now for those who want to try it out.
Palworld: Feybreak is an expansion for the action-adventure, survival, and monster-taming game developed and published by Pocket Pair, Palworld. The expansion is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on December 23, 2024.
Despite the game not being as talked about since it first launched, the fact that the game is still getting updates is pretty good. This new expansion looks quite interesting with the new monsters that they added here and so forth. We'll see how this new expansion will turn out when it comes out in a few weeks.
Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play open-world action role-playing game developed and published by Kuro Games. The game will be coming to PS5 on January 3, 2025.
Great to see that this game will be coming to PS5 as it's one of those games that is definitely fun to play. Despite the game being similar to the Hoyoverse games, it's still kind of its own thing with its own mechanics in terms of gameplay which is nice. We'll see how the game will turn out on PS5 once it's released next month.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an action game developed and published by Capcom where the game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2026.
Holy crap! We're getting a new Onimusha game?! My god, what is happening?! We haven't had a new original Onimusha game since Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams which was released back on PS2 in 2006 so it's been eighteen years since then which is crazy. Granted, we got the remaster of the first game back in 2018 so that game was a test to see if people were interested in the series again and it worked. It looked amazing in terms of graphics and the gameplay looks very smooth. Granted, we won't get this game until 2026, but the fact that it's coming is awesome, and looking forward to seeing more of it down the line.
The First Berserker: Khazan is an action-adventure game developed by Neople and published by Nexon where the game will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X on March 27, 2025.
We've seen this game numerous times in past presentations, but we finally got a release date which is great to see. Though I really questioned having a CGI trailer for this game with no actual gameplay like they did previous times, it works and no doubt, this game has a lot of potential to be something good. We'll see how this game will turn out overall once it's released in three months.
Dungeon & Fighter: ARAD is a role-playing game developed and published by Nexon. The game is set to be released on unannounced consoles in the future.
This game looks to be a lot like Hoyoverse games in a way in terms of art style and somewhat of the gameplay as well. However, it has its own style to it as well which makes it different compared to Hoyoverse games. Either way, this game looks to be a lot of fun and has a lot of potential as well. Hope to see more of this game in the future down the line.
Stage Fright is a co-op adventure game developed by Ghost Town Games and published by Hello Games. The game is set to be released on PC in the future.
Didn't expect the developers of Overcooked to develop a co-op game that is filled with mystery and horror in some way which is quite interesting. The game looks to be split screen when playing co-op which should be a very interesting experience. Hope to see more gameplay of this game down the line as it has potential.
Double Dragon Revive is a beat 'em up game developed by Yuke's and published by Arc System Works. The game is set to be released on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on October 23, 2025.
Wow, didn't expect Double Dragon to make a return here, but this is great to see. I like the art style that this game and the character designs for the characters look great as well. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this game in the future when it comes out in ten months.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a racing game developed and published by Sega where it'll be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC in the future.
Wait what?! We're getting a new Sonic Racing game?! Nice! Granted, I wish we'd gotten gameplay for the game, but hey, the fact that Shadow is going to be in it is already good enough for me. Very curious to see what the game will be like and who will be. I guess we'll find out soon enough and hope to see more in the future.
Mafia: The Old Country is an action-adventure game developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K Games. The game is set to be released on PC in Summer 2025.
Back at Gamescom Opening Night Live, we only got the announcement of the game, but no gameplay. This time, however, we did get a bit of gameplay, but it was more on the cinematic story which seems very interesting. It's been a long time since the last Mafia game and this game has potential. Hope to see more of the game soon once it's released.
Infinity Nikki is a free-to-play adventure game developed and published by Papergames. The game is available now on PS5 and PC.
The game had been out for a week now by the time the Game Awards aired, but it's still great to see that this game still got advertised by the show regardless. Even though I played the game a little bit, it was quite fun. Don't let the cute and cozy nature fool you though as there are some dark elements within the story along with this so keep that in mind. Either way, enjoying what I've played of the game so far and we'll see how long the game will be supported from here.
Dispatch is an action strategy game developed and published by AdHoc Studio where the game is set to be released on PC in 2025.
This seems to be a very interesting game involving superheroes as they have a lot of big actors and voice actors in this game which makes it a huge deal in a way. I like the art style of the game as it's basically a cartoon and the story seems quite interesting as well. Hope to see more of this game down the line once it's released next year.
Ōkami Sequel is an action-adventure game developed by Clovers Studio and published by Capcom. The game will be released on unannounced consoles in the future.
Wait what?! Ōkami is back and Capcom managed to get Hideki Kamiya back for this game as well?! What?! I never thought we would see Ōkami again in any shape or fashion, but the fact that we did is incredible. I still can't believe that this is happening and the fact that Hideki Kamiya's new studio name is Clovers is quite similar as it's similar to Clover when Ōkami was made which Hideki Kamiya directed. Either way, this is a dream come true and I can't wait to see the gameplay of this game once it happens. It's going to be awesome.
Crimson Desert is an action-adventure game developed and published by Pearl Abyss where the game is set to be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in 2025.
We've seen this game numerous times in past presentations as we finally got a release window next year which is good to see. This game has a lot of potential as the graphics look very beautiful and the gameplay looks very smooth as well. Hope to see more of this game down the line once it comes out next year.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is an action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 in the future.
Oh my god, finally! A game from Naughty Dog that isn't Last of Us! About time! In all seriousness, even though I haven't nothing against Last of Us, I'll admit that I was getting a bit tired of Last of Us being remastered and remade very quickly for the past decade so it's nice to see Naughty Dog doing something different for a nice change. I love how the game is based on space and is somewhat inspired by Cowboy Bebop and Akira so that's cool. Wish we got to see gameplay as we kind of got a glimpse of it, but not really. Either way, we'll see how this new project with Naughty Dog will turn out.
Overall, Geoff Keighley and his team gave a great presentation. I know I've said this every year, but this is the best Game Awards show yet. Not only did they have great game announcements and surprises with some solid pacing and fewer ads, but even the awards were also done well in terms of distributing the awards evenly without one game sweeping in every category and giving the developers and voice actors of the games to talk about what the game means to them which is nice. Plus, they also addressed the issues with the gaming industry with the layoffs and handing out an award for trying to help the great gaming industry. The only nitpick I had with the show is that it didn't look like a 10th Anniversary show to me where the game announcements, surprises, and music performances felt like it, presentation, it didn't. Even putting 10s on the stage would make it different than any other Game Awards show, but that's just me. Besides that, this is probably the best Game Awards yet in terms of announcements and awards. Hopefully, they continue on this track for next year's Game Awards, but time will tell.
