Gaming Influence: Thoughts - PlayStation State of Play | February 12, 2025

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, I will not only be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series but also on video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll give my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play on February 12, 2025.

Before I start, only some games shown in this presentation will be discussed as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me or I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games you care about and are interested in I have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm so glad for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

This PlayStation State of Play will cover future PS5 games, so let's get to it!

Monster Hunter Wilds is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom where the game will be released on PS5 on February 28, 2025.

Despite seeing this game numerous times from past video game presentations, I'm still hyped about this game more than ever. As expected, we'll get free updates for this game as we're getting Mizutsune which will come out this spring. Also, the pre-order bonuses we get for the game, including an armor set and a digital mini artbook, are great. Can't wait to play the game once it comes out in a few weeks.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is a 2D action platformer developed by Lizardcube and published by Sega. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 on August 29, 2025.

We knew that Sega was going to make a new original game for Shinobi, but we didn't know anything about it. Now though, we finally got to see it in action and it looks incredible. The fact that the game is developed by the same team who did Streets of Rage 4 with Lizardcube is awesome as I love the art style of the game and the combat looks incredible. Looking forward to trying out this game once it's released in six months.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a racing game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It will be released on PS5 and PS4 and will undergo a closed network test on February 21, 2025.

We had a teaser for this game back at the Game Awards as we finally got to see it in action here and it looks incredible. They have some amazing racing tracks on there that caught my attention and the racer roster looks pretty solid too as they even added Sage from Sonic Frontiers. Although we still don't have a confirmed release date or window for this game, we do have a network test on this game which comes out next week so we'll see how that turns out. We'll see how the game will turn out once it's released.

Digimon Story Time Stranger is a role-playing game developed by Media Vision and published by Bandai Namco. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2025.

Dang, didn't expect a new Digimon Story game to be showcased in this presentation, but great to see regardless. This game looks to follow Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and if it's anything like that, we're in for a treat. Hope to see more of this game down the line and looking forward to trying it out once it's released this year.

Lost Soul Aside is an action role-playing game developed by UltiZeroGames and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PC on May 30, 2025.

I remember seeing a bit of this game back then, but it's been a long while since we saw anything related to this game, and we finally got a better look at it as it looks stunning. The art style reminds me so much of the late PS3/early PS4 Square Enix Final Fantasy games and the combat looks awesome as well with the combos you can do and so forth. Looking forward to trying out this game as we don't have to wait for long as it'll be released in three months.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an action-adventure game developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku and published by Sega. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 on February 21, 2025. A demo of the game will be on PS5 and PS4 on February 14, 2025.

It's very cool to see that Majima has his own game here and it looks incredible, especially with the pirate theme in Hawaii and so forth. Combat looks fun in the traditional beat 'em up style as well as riding the pirate ship. Looking forward to trying the full game out as well as the demo once I get the chance.

DAVE THE DIVER - Ichiban's Holiday is DLC for the single-player adventure role-playing game developed and published by MINTROCKET, DAVE THE DIVER, where it'll feature Like a Dragon's Ichiban and other characters in the Like a Dragon series. The DLC is planned to be released on PS5 and PS4 in April 2025.

Seriously, what's up with DAVE THE DIVER managing to get these crazy collabs?! It's insane. However, seeing characters from Like a Dragon in DAVE THE DIVER is great and I love the fact that they have a beat 'em up section too which is nice. Very curious to see how this DLC will turn out once it's released in two months.

WWE 2K25 is a sports game developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K Games. The game is set to be released on PS5 & PS4 on March 14, 2025.

Wow, didn't expect an advertisement for WWE 2K25 by WWE Hall of Famer, Paul Heyman, which is quite surprising. However, the way he hyped up The Island within the game is pretty cool as it's basically a single-player mode where you can interact with other users online and do wrestling matches on an island as that's unique. Very curious to see how this mode will turn out once it's released next month.

Borderlands 4 is a first-person shooter developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. The game is set to be released on PS5 on September 23, 2025.

We've seen trailers for this game for a while, but we finally got a confirmed release date for the game as it looks to be as chaotic as ever. They also announced that there'll be a State of Play later this spring to discuss Borderlands 4 so we'll get more details on the game there. We'll see how this game will turn out once it's released in seven months.

Split Fiction is an action-adventure game developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts. The game is set to be released on PS5 on March 6, 2025.

We've seen this game showcased back at the Game Awards, but great to see another trailer for the game for the game regardless. I did enjoy It Takes Two so seeing another game like this is great to see and I find the story to be intriguing as well with the concept of the two protagonists' stories coming to life. Looking forward to seeing how the final game will turn out once it's released next month.

The Midnight Walk is an adventure game developed by MoonHood and published by Fast Travel Games. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PSVR2 on May 8, 2025.

We've seen this game in the past in a PlayStation State of Play last year, but this time, we got a release date for the game and it's coming out a lot sooner than expected. I continue to love that this game has an art style based on clay and it's pretty much a spooky adventure game in some ways which I'm all for it. We'll see how the final product will turn out once it's released in three months.

Darwin's Paradox! is an action-adventure platformer developed by ZDT Studio and published by Konami. The game is set to be released on PS5 later this year.

Oh wow, didn't expect Konami to have a platformer involving an octopus here, but it looks awesome. The gameplay looks to be a lot of fun and the abilities that the octopus have should make the action very interesting. Hope to see more of this game in the future once it comes out later this year.

WARRIORS: Abyss is an action roguelike game developed and published by Koei Tecmo as it's available now on PS5 and PS4.

Dang, didn't expect a shadow drop in this presentation, but we got one and it's a roguelike DYNASTY WARRIORS game?! Sign me up! The game looks to be chaotic as heck, but I guess that's the part of it and the gameplay looks to be a lot of fun as well. Looking forward to trying it out once I get the chance as it's available now to play.

Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is a remaster of the action-adventure game developed and published by Capcom that was released on PS2 in 2002 of the same name. The game is set to be released on PS4 on May 23, 2025.

Great to see this game being remastered and with Onimusha: Way of the Sword coming out next year, they want to build hype for the game by re-releasing the old Onimusha games which is a smart strategy to do so. Looking forward to replaying this game myself as it'll be released in three months.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an action game developed and published by Capcom where the game will be released on PS5 in 2026.

We saw this game back at the Game Awards last year, but great to see another trailer for this game as it continues to look amazing. The protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi, seems to be a fun character and the combat continues to look smooth and fun. Very curious to see more of this game as it'll be a while since it won't be released until next year, but looking forward to it.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is an action-adventure stealth game developed and published by Konami where the game will be released on PS5 on August 28, 2025.

We've been seeing this game since the PlayStation Showcase back in 2023, but we finally got a release date for the game and it looks incredible. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is still my favorite Metal Gear Solid game of all time and I'm looking forward to replaying it with the new visuals and wonder if they change anything else for the game to make it a reimagining if they're going in that direction. Plus, they even added the Ape Escape minigame again from the PS2 version back then so great to see that they'll add it to the PS5 version. Looking forward to playing this game once it's released in six months.

Lies of P Overture is DLC for the soulslike action role-playing game developed and published by NEOWIZ, Lies of P. The DLC is set to be released on PS5 and PS4 in Summer 2025.

We knew that there was going to be DLC for Lies of P and we finally got to see it as it looks incredible. I really enjoyed Lies of P as it was another fun soulslike game with a story based on Pinocchio in a dark setting. This seems to be a prequel to Lies of P and I'm very curious to see how the story will turn out, but in terms of gameplay, I know it's going to deliver and I can't wait to play it once it's released this summer.

Dreams of Another is a third-person exploration-action game developed and published by Q-Games where the game is set to be released on PS5 and PSVR2 later this year.

Okay, I didn't expect Q-Games to make a game like this, but I'm all for it. Really love the art style that the game used with its sort of pixel art in 3D which is very unique. I also like the concept where you shoot, it actually creates things instead of destroying which is very intriguing from a gameplay perspective. I'm very curious to see how the game will turn out and hope to see more of it soon once it's released later this year.

Days Gone Remastered is a remaster of the action-adventure game developed by Bend Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Days Gone, which was released on PS4 in 2019. The game is set to be released on PS5 on April 25, 2025.

Well, there are people out there I believe that wanted a remaster of this game and they got it. Not only did they improve the graphics, but also added new content with a horde assault mode where it's basically a zombie mode which is quite cool. Plus, if players had the game on PS4 physically, they can upgrade to the PS5 version for an additional $10 which is nice. I'm very curious to see if this remaster will sell well, but we'll see as it'll be released in two months.

Stellar Blade & Goddess of Victory: Nikke DLC is DLC for the action-adventure game developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Stellar Blade, as characters from Goddess of Victory: Nikke will crossover with Stellar Blade. The DLC is set to be released on PS5 & PC in June 2025.

Dang, Stellar Blade is getting some pretty good collaborations as of late with the first being NieR Automata and now, Goddess of Victory: Nikke. Very cool. A lot of new content being added to Stellar Blade is always a plus and we also got an announcement that the game will be coming to PC as well which comes out at the same time when the DLC is released. Looking forward to trying this DLC myself once it's released in four months.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage - Tape 1 is a two-part adventure game developed and published by Don't Nod where the first part will be released on PS5 on February 18, 2025.

We've seen this game numerous times in past presentations, but we finally got a release date for it as it'll be coming sooner than expected. This looks to be an interesting narrative-driven game that will have big plot twists so we'll see how the game will turn out. Plus, this game comes out for free if you subscribed to PlayStation Plus so if you have it, give it a try as it'll be released next week, and by the time you read this, it might already be out.

Tides of Annihilation is a fantasy action-adventure game developed and published by Eclipse Glow Games where the game will be released on PS5 in the future.

This is probably one of the biggest new gaming announcements for me as this game looks incredible. From the graphics to the story to the gameplay, to the music, this game grabbed my attention as it reminds me of a Square Enix game at times which I'm totally down for. This game has my full attention and hope to see more of it soon as it's currently in development, but it has so much potential so I'm intrigued.

MindsEye is an action-adventure game developed by Build a Rocket Boy and published by IO Interactive. The game is set to be released on PS5 in Summer 2025.

This game looks very interesting from what we've seen from it so far as it has a lot of potential. The gameplay looks to be chaotic as heck with it being a shooter, the story seems quite interesting, and the graphics look pretty impressive as well. We'll see how the game will turn out and hope to see more of it soon once it comes out this summer.

Saros is an action game developed by Housemarque and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2026.

Well, it looks like Housemarque is working on their next game right after Returnal which is great, but I wish we got to see gameplay of the game since it's a new IP. Granted, if the game is anything like Returnal, then we're in for a treat, but again, we should've gotten gameplay for this. Regardless, hope to see more of this game and looking forward to playing it once it comes out next year.

Overall, this was a good presentation from PlayStation. Even though there weren't a lot of new game announcements in this presentation, we got a lot of trailers and gameplay for games we already knew about which is nice to see as they looked awesome. However, will say that the third-party companies pretty much carried this whole presentation as there were very few first-party game announcements here where the new original first-party game didn't even have gameplay. Although, I do like the third-party games being highlighted here as well as seeing games being added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and PlayStation Plus Classics with the retro Armored Core games and Patapon 3 which is awesome. Regardless, it does seem like PlayStation does have a layout of games coming out this year if everything goes according to plan so we'll see how that turns out for them.
