Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Pokémon Presents | 2.27.2023

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created back in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on the Pokémon Presents that happened on February 27, 2023.

Before I start, not every game that was shown in this digital presentation will be talked about as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, I have nothing against the games, but they're not just for me or I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you are happy with the games that you care about and are interested in that I'm not or nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm happy for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

This Pokémon Presents will showcase for what Pokémon will have in store for us throughout the rest of the year. Let's get to it!

Pokémon Scarlet/Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is the DLC for Pokémon Scarlet/Violet as it will come in two waves. Wave 1: The Teal Mask will be released this fall while Wave 2: The Indigo Disk will be released this winter.

As expected, I knew there was going to be DLC for Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, but was disappointing that we didn't get to see any gameplay for it which is a bummer. However, with the concept art that they've shown, it has the potential to be something great. Wave 1 looks to be quite interesting as you're going to a different island and it looks to be based in Japan which looks cool. Wave 2 also seems to be intriguing with you being an exchange student in another academy. Not only that, we'll get more Pokémon with the DLC expansion which I'm totally down for which is great. Plus, the new two legendary Pokémon for the DLC look quite interesting, and hope to see what they're about in-game soon. In addition, pre-ordering the DLC gets you new costumes and a Hisuan Zoroark which is quite cool. Finally, the fact that you get Wind Wake (Suicune) for Pokémon Scarlet and Iron Leaves (Virizion) for Pokémon Violet in Tera Raid Battles right now is incredible. I just wished they showed more, but I can't complain about what they've shown and talk about so looking forward to it this fall and winter.

Overall, this was an average presentation from the Pokémon Company. Granted, if the DLC for Pokémon Scarlet/Violet didn't show up, this would have been a bad presentation as if you're only into the console Pokémon games and nothing else, then this would be a huge disappointment for you and I wouldn't blame you at all. Though what they did show outside of the console Pokémon games are interesting like the Pokémon World Championships being held in Japan for the first time, that's huge, Pokémon Trading Card Game having a classic edition for people that are into trading card games is huge, Pokémon working with Netflix to get an animated series called Pokémon Concierge looks charming, and updates on games such as Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Café ReMix, and Pokémon Sleep is cool. However, the problem is that those announcements don't appeal to everyone and that's unfortunate as mainly people tune in for the console Pokémon games and nothing else so in that sense, Pokémon Company failed here despite showing some cool content here. Either way, hope to see more of Pokémon Scarlet/Violet: The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero and we'll see if they have anything else for the rest of the year.
