Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct 1/25/23

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created back in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct that happened on January 25, 2023.

Let's get started!

Now, for those who are wondering, what is Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct? Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct is similar to a Nintendo Direct or a PlayStation State of Play where it is a digital presentation that will showcase games for Xbox consoles, PC, and Game Pass. This is the first-ever Developer Direct for Xbox so did they deliver?

Let's talk about it.

Minecraft Legends is an action-strategy game developed by Mojang Studios and Blackbird Interactive and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC on April 18, 2023.

This game was showcased back at the Xbox + Bethesda Games Showcase back at Summer Game Fest last year which definitely takes the franchise into a new genre that looks unique and fun at the same time. The fact that this game will have online multiplayer is also a plus as well. Looking forward to this game's release when the game comes out in three months.

Forza Motorsport is a reboot of the popular simulation racing game series, Forza Motorsport, as the reboot of the game will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2023.

It looks like the game has been delayed potentially as it's no longer launching in Spring 2023 which is unfortunate. However, looking at this game, it seems like they really want to make this game look amazing and play extremely well. This reboot of Forza Motorsport might do wonders for the series and looking forward to seeing more of it when it's released this year.

Hi-Fi RUSH is a rhythm-based action game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks as it is available now on Xbox Series X and PC.

Well, this was a surprise that I didn't see coming especially when you can play it right now. After playing the game for a bit, I have to say that this game is excellent as the art style is unique, the gameplay is a lot of fun, likable characters, and the music is a blast to listen to. This was a big surprise and a great one at that as I can see this game being one of my favorite games of the year already which is insane. If you're into rhythm-based games, check out Hi-Fi RUSH as you won't be disappointed.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom is the next major update for the popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls Online, as it will be released on June 5, 2023, on PC, and June 20, 2023, on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Even though I don't really play a lot of The Elder Scrolls Online, I'll say that it's great that Bethesda still supports this game and the new update looks great with the addition of the necromancer class to the game. Elder Scrolls Online fans will have something to look forward this summer as this update releases in five months.

Redfall is a first-person shooter developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks where it will be released on Xbox Series X and PC on May 2, 2023.

As I continue to see more of this game, I am more impressed by it as I still questioned why they still didn't show any gameplay of this game back in E3 2021 when they first showed it off. Regardless, even though this is not really my type of game, I'm willing to give it a shot and see how the game turns out as it finally has a solid release date of May 2, 2023.

Overall, this was a good show from Xbox & Bethesda. For Xbox's & Bethesda's first-ever digital presentation focusing on first-party games, it was pretty good as they showed a great balance of trailers and gameplay with some nice variety mixed with developer commentary in the background which is unique compared to Nintendo and PlayStation with their digital presentations. I would love to see Xbox stay in this direction with their digital presentations moving forward and a great start for them in the new year so hopefully, they can keep it up.
