Gaming Influence: Thoughts - PlayStation State of Play | May 30, 2024

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created back in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play which happened on May 30, 2024.

Before I start, not every game that was shown in this presentation will be talked about as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me or it's just I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games that you care about and are interested in I have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm happy for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

This PlayStation State of Play will cover PS5 and PSVR2 games that are coming in the future so let's get to it!

Concord is a hero shooter game developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 on August 23, 2024.

Granted, what they showed from the game with gameplay and everything looks fine. However, I'm not a fan of how they demonstrated the game when they had a long CGI trailer to showcase the game's world and characters, which could be condensed to be shorter than what it was to get the point across. Also, this game seems to be an online service game, so I wonder if it'll work for this game. However, we'll see if this game delivers as they have a beta in July of this year and the game will be released in three months, but it shouldn't start with a long CGI trailer.

DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS is a hack-and-slash action game developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2025.

I have to say that the game does look pretty good and it's quite interesting that they're doing an origin story for the Dynasty Warriors games which is quite cool. The graphics look pretty good, the gameplay looks very smooth, and the character design for the protagonist is quite interesting too. We'll see how the game will turn out overall once it's released next year.

Infinity Nikki is a cross-platform open-world dress-up adventure game developed and published by Papergames where the game will get a test on PS5 in Q3 2024.

I just have to say, this game really surprised me. The game has a certain style and art to it that stood out from the other games they showcased here as it's actually quite cool to see. The game seems to be a hybrid of a platformer with exploring and dress-up which is quite interesting. From looking at the trailer, it's like a mix of a 3D platformer with Style Savvy to me which I can dig. Either way, we'll see how the game will turn out when they have the test in Q3 of this year.

Ballad of Antara is a dark fantasy action role-playing game developed by TipWorks Studios and published by Infold Games. The game is set to be released on PS5 in 2025.

I have to say that this game looks a lot like a Soulslike game which honestly, sounds great to me as it looks great. The game definitely has a dark tone to it which I can dig and the gameplay looks to be very smooth with some very impressive graphics as well. Really hope to see more of this game in the future when it comes out next year.

Marvel Rivals is a hero shooter developed and published by NetEase Games where the game will have closed beta in July 2024 on PS5.

It's really cool to see this game coming out to PS5 as it has been on PC for a while now and it does look pretty good and fun to play as. I don't know how the game will turn out once it comes to consoles, but we'll see if it turns out great. Plus, we get a PS5-exclusive costume with Scarlet Spider which is quite awesome. Wishing this game nothing, but the best.

Where Winds Meet is an action-adventure game developed and published by Everstone Studio where the game will be released on PS5 in the future.

Man, it's been a long time since we last saw this game which I think might have been two years or so. Either way, this game continues to look amazing as the gameplay looks very smooth and fun to play. They also have very cool-looking character designs and bosses which I like as well. With this game not having a release year yet, it looks like this game is still in development, but hope to see more of it soon down the line.

Until Dawn is a remake of an interactive drama horror game developed by Ballistic Moon and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 and PC in Fall 2024.

The last time we saw this game was back at the PlayStation State of Play in January of this year so I expected to see more of this game since it's coming out this year and we got it. I'm still surprised that this game is getting a remake as the original game on PS4 was released in 2015. However, I do see improvements in terms of graphics and it looks like they're improving other aspects from the original as well so in a way, this is warranted for a remake. We'll see how the actual game will turn out once it's released this fall.

Path of Exile II is a free-to-play action role-playing game developed and published by Grinding Gear Games where the game will have early access in late 2024 on PS5.

If you want a game that pretty much looks and plays like Diablo, but it's not Diablo, then Path of Exile is just for you. It looks like they added more content compared to the original which is nice and the fact they added local co-op as well as cross progression among other versions of the game is awesome too. We'll see how the game turns out once the early access comes out later in the year.

Silent Hill 2 is a remake of the survival horror game developed by Blooper Team and published by Konami. The game is set to be released on PS5 on October 8, 2024.

The game definitely looks a lot better than the last time we see it which is good. Though, I wished it would look a lot better than we got here. Despite that, the game still looks good for the most part and it looks like Blooper Team is keeping what made Silent Hill 2 special in the first place so that's a great sign. Hopefully, the final product will be great just like the original and we'll see how it turns out once it's released in five months.

Monster Hunter Wilds is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. The game will be released on PS5 in 2025.

The last time we saw this game was back at the Game Awards last year and it looks incredible. This time, we got another trailer for the game with gameplay and it looks amazing. It looks like this game is taken place in a Western setting with Western character designs and atmosphere which I'm totally down for as it's great to give variety and do different areas in different places and regions. It looks to be even bigger compared to Monster Hunter World which is quite impressive. Looking forward to seeing more of this game down the line as it comes out next year.

Astro Bot is a 3D platformer developed by Team ASOBI and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is set to be released on PS5 on September 6, 2024.

This game has been rumored for a while now, but glad to actually see this game and it looks incredible. This is pretty much everything I wanted in a new Astro game after experiencing Astro's Playroom which is amazing and a lot of fun in its own right. Really love the references to other PlayStation IPs as well as third-party franchises that are well known on PlayStation on here and the gameplay looks like what a 3D platformer should be. Love the art style, love the graphics, and I hope the controls for the gameplay is just as fun compared to Astro's Playroom. If you have a PS5, definitely would pick this game up if you're into platformers and I can't wait to play this game myself as it'll be released in four months.

Overall, this was a solid presentation from PlayStation. It had a really rough start with Concord, but after that, it started to do better with some cool looking and interesting game trailers and announcements, especially toward the end which helped a lot. Also, the games announced for PC and PSVR2 are quite cool as well. Nothing big here that screams E3 type of level, but what they showcased here is quite good. However, delivery needs to be better with this but enjoyed the game trailers and announcements we got here. We'll see what else PlayStation has in store for the rest of the year as well as next year.
