Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Xbox Games Showcase + Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created back in WrestleCorp. However, not only will I be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series, but also video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my thoughts on the PlayStation State of Play which happened on May 30, 2024.

Before I start, not every game that was shown in this presentation will be talked about as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me or it's just I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games that you care about and are interested in I have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm happy for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

This Xbox Games Showcase + Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct will cover games coming to Xbox, Xbox Games Pass, and PC in the future so let's get to it!

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on October 24, 2024.

Despite not being into first-person shooters that much as well as not being into Call of Duty that much either, I'll say that this game looks incredible. The game also seems to have an exciting story campaign which is nice to see as well. Will be talking about this game more when going into the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, but as of now, it looks good.

DOOM: The Dark Ages is a first-person shooter developed by id Software and published by Bethesda. The game will be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2025.

Even though I do say that I'm not into first-person shooters that much, there are a few exceptions that I mentioned before and DOOM is one of them. Man, this game looks incredible and the fact that you can have a chainsaw shield and able to fly a mechanical dragon of some kind is awesome. Really looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out once it's released next year.

State of Decay 3 is a survival horror game developed by Undead Labs and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in the future.

Oh wow, we got ourselves a new State of Decay game which is awesome. It has been six years since State of Decay 2 so glad to see that the series is getting another game and it looks pretty good. The game seems to be possibly open-world as well which is quite interesting for a game like this. We'll see how the game does and hope to see more of it in the future.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is an action role-playing game developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in Fall 2024.

Man, this game has been in development for quite a long time, but glad to see that the game still exists and it looks quite good. It's great to see the Dragon Age series back again as it's been ten years since the last Dragon Age game with Dragon Game: Inquisition. Really hope that this game does well and hope to see more of it soon as it'll be released this fall.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a role-playing game developed by Sandfall Interactive and published by Kepler Interactive. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2025.

This game is one of the highlights of the show just due to the gameplay they showcased here which is turn-based?! Count me in! I really like the art style of the game as well as it has that realism, but mixed in with the beautiful and contrasting colors which is nice. Again, that gameplay looks amazing as it's like a mix of Persona along with old school Paper Mario which I'm down for. This game definitely has my interest and hope to see more of it once it comes out next year.

South of Midnight is an action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2025.

Man, it's been a long time since we last saw this game, but glad to see that we finally got more footage after so long and it's looking great. The gameplay looks very smooth and I'm really digging the art style as well. The way the protagonist can traverse through the world with their hook and glider is awesome. This game definitely has my interest after seeing the gameplay and hope to see more of it when it comes out next year.

Path of Exile II is a free-to-play action role-playing game developed and published by Grinding Gear Games where the game will have early access in late 2024 on PS5.

If you want a game that pretty much looks and plays like Diablo, but it's not Diablo, then Path of Exile is just for you. It looks like they added more content compared to the original which is nice and the fact they added local co-op as well as cross-progression among other versions of the game is awesome too. We'll see how the game turns out once the early access comes out later in the year.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is an action-adventure stealth game developed and published by Konami. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in the future.

It's been a while since we last saw this game which was back in the PlayStation Showcase last year, but great to see more of it as it continues to look amazing. Even though Hideo Kojima is no longer with Konami and that Konami themselves are handling this remake, I still have hope that this game will be great in its own way and looking forward to playing this remake once it's released.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an action role-playing game developed by A44 Games and published by Kelper Interactive. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on July 18, 2024.

It's been a while since we last saw this game and the progress for this game has been incredible. The game looks very smooth in terms of its gameplay and combat as they mentioned that this game will be a soulslike game which is quite awesome. The graphics look impressive and the story seems intriguing as well. Either way, looking forward to trying out this game when it comes out next month.

Age of Mythology: Retold is a strategy game developed by World's Edge and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on September 4, 2024.

This is another game that we haven't seen in a while, but also great to see progress on this game as it looks to be what it's expected from this which isn't a bad thing. It looks like the game is going to enhance and improve some elements and features from the first Age of Mythology game which was twenty-two years ago which is absurd. Looking forward to seeing how the final product turns out once it's released in three months.

Perfect Dark is a reboot of the 2000 first-person shooter developed by The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in the future.

Holy crap! It's been four years since we last saw of this game and it definitely looks amazing as it's incredible to see the progress of this game. Gameplay looks to be very good so far as it seems to be a mix of action along with stealth similar to the Metal Gear Solid games which I can dig. In addition, it seems like they're changing things with the story as well possibly as this seems to be a reimaging of the first game. Only time will tell on which direction they'll go with this game, but I'm intrigued and hope to see more of it in the future.

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred is DLC for the online-only action role-playing dungeon crawling game developed and published by Blizzard where the DLC will be released on Xbox Series X and PC on October 8, 2024.

This looks to be another story expansion for Diablo IV and it looks to be very dark as well. The story seems quite interesting and very curious to see what we're in store for with this new story expansion. Hope to see more of it soon once it's released in four months.

Fable is a reboot of the action role-playing game developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2025.

Finally! After four years, we finally got a release year on when this game is coming out and it continues to look great. The gameplay continues to look smooth and fun while the graphics in this game is absolutely gorgeous. Very curious to see how this reboot will do and really hope it does well so we can get more Fable games as I'm looking forward to seeing more next year.

Winter Burrow is an adventure game developed by Pine Creek Games and published by Noodlecake Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in early 2025.

This game looks pretty good and I really like the art syle of the game as well as it looks to be quite charming with the mice and everything. It looks to be an adventure game where you play as a mouse and trying to find your friends in the world that the game is in which is quite interesting with a bad situation happening once you find them. Looking forward to seeing more of this game in the future when it comes out early next year.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is a flight simulation game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on November 19, 2024.

The last time we saw anything about this game was back at the Xbox Games Showcase last year and we finally got more gameplay of the game and a release date for it as well. This game continues to look incredible with its graphics and the environments created within this game also look beautiful as well. Looking forward to this game when it comes out in five months.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is an adventure game developed by Deck Nine and published by Square Enix. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on October 29, 2024.

It looks like we got the next game within the Life is Strange series and it's looking great. The story of this game is quite interesting and the powers that protagonist has here with going to two parallel universes is quite cool. I'm very curious to see how the overall game will turn out and we won't have to wait long to find out as it'll be released in four months.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an action-adventure game developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2024.

The last time we saw this game was back at the Developer Direct in January earlier this year as we got more here and it continues to look incredible. Though, I'm still surprised that this game doesn't have a release date yet even though it's coming out this year. It makes me skeptical that this game might get delayed, but we'll have to wait and see as we'll play this game sometime this year.

Mecha BREAK is a multiplayer mech game developed and published by Amazing Seasun and Seasun Games. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2025.

We've seen this game numerous times on other presentations and the game continues to look quite fun. It's great to see a resurgence with mech games and this one looks fun in its own right with its mech customization. Hope to see more of this game in the future when it comes out next year.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is a soulslike action role-playing game developed by Chengdu Lingze Technology Co. Ltd. and published by 505 Games. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2025.

This is another cool looking game that caught me off by surprise and I like it a lot. Really like the a rt style of this game and the combat looks so smooth with the different weapons and abilites the protagonist can use throughout the game. The boss fights look quite challenging as well which is expected for a soulslike game. Hope to see more of this game down the line once it comes out next year.

Avowed is an action role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in 2024.

We saw this game numerous times in past Xbox presentations as it continues to look great. Though, similar to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the fact that this game doesn't have a release date yet is quite worrisome. However, the game does have a lot of potential to be great so hopefully, we'll get a release date of this game sooner rather than later. Either way, looking forward to seeing more when it comes out later this year.

Assassin's Creed Shadows is an action role-playing game developed and published by Ubisoft. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on November 15, 2024.

We've seen this game from Ubisoft already, but this game continues to look different and amazing among the rest of the Assassin's Creed games that they have developed in the past decade. The fact that this game takes place in Japan is already cool and having two protagonists in this game is also great as well. The combat looks so good and hope to see more of it in the future when the game comes out in five months.

Gears of War: E-Day is a third-person shooter developed by The Coalitiion and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in the future.

Finally! After five years, we finally got ourselves a new Gears of War game and even though we didn't get any gameplay, the fact that we got another game in the series is a huge win in my book. Judging by what we got from this trailer, it looks to be the origin story of the whole Gears of War franchise, but that's just speculation right now. Regardless, a big win for Gears of War fans and hope to see more of this game in the future.

With the game coming out in four months, did Xbox and Activision do enough to convince hardcore and casual gaming fans to be interested in this game? Well, let's find out and talked about what they've shown.

The presentation started off with an introduction of the studio that developed Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Treyarch as the directors of the game talked about their vision of what they want to create for this game including story and gameplay. Nice to see that the developers of the game were passionate on what they're making here and hope they're able to accomplish on what they're set out to do.

We then moved on to the campaign of the game. The campaign is directed by Raven Software as they discuss what's in the campaign for this game. The story in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will take place after the events of the Cold War where two protagonists that were once enemies of each other have to team up to face a bigger threat along with getting new allies along the way. They also the characters in small detail on what they're about and so forth. They also mentioned that there'll be a lot of side missions within the game that players can replay for a different experience. This seems to another typical campaign for Call of Duty, but it does look interesting and glad that there'll be replayability for the campaign for players to do which is great to see.

Next, they talked about the omnimovement of the game. There will be a new way to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 with omnimovement which allows players to actively move in any direction they want whether it's sprinting or diving. This will also enhance players to act like an actual hero in the game making them feel like them in-game. I really have to say that this option is cool as it's optional for players if they want to stick with the traditional controls. However, can't deny that the omnimovement controls look like a lot of fun. Can't deny that.

After that, they talked about the fidelity of the game. While they were doing the omnimovement of the game, they also implement when shooting at a particular body part, the player will react based on the area they were shot at for a more realistic experience. In addition, the game will have a lot of customization when it comes to weapons. I really like how the developers here are trying to make the game as realistic as possible with not just the graphics, but also gameplay as well which is nice. Plus, customization in games is always a plus.

They then talked about the hud of the game. The hud for this game is one of their best ones yet in terms of being customizable on how the player wants their hud to look like in terms of vision, placement, etc. Really like how the developers here are giving players more freedom on how they want to play with their hud so that's great to see.

Next, they then talked about the progression of the game. Progression in this game is different compared to past Call of Duty games as they decided to bring the best progression from their past experiences that will allow players on how they want to progress with prestiges and all prestiges will be available at launch with the game. Just like with the hud, glad to see the developers giving more choices for the players to choose and that's always a good thing.

They then talked about multiplayer for the game. Despite not giving full details of the multiplayer yet, they did mentioned that the theatre mode will return as well as the game having sixteen new maps at launch. Even though we didn't get much information on multiplayer here, it's still great to see that the developers are working on it for the best experience as possible. Hope they deliver on that front.

Finally, they ended off with the zombies mode for the game. The zombies mode has returned for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as they're adding two new maps and more challenges when dealing with zombies in this game. Glad that this mode is sticking around for players that love the mode which is nice to see. We'll see if they add anything else to the mode after the game's launch.

Overall, this was a great presentation from Xbox. Even though I haven't been a fan of their business dceisions as of late especially with studio closures, I can't deny that they had a great presentation to highlight games coming to Xbox this year and next year. I also like how their focus was mainly on first-party games which is impressive and there was barely any third-party games which is shocking. However, good on Xbox for having their first-party games coming out pretty soon. In terms of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct, I thought it was good in terms of pacing and giving details on each aspect of the game while also providing gameplay which is great. Although, in my case, it's not enough to convince me to get the game, but you're a huge Call of Duty fan, this game is up your alley. Really hope that Xbox will learn from their past mistakes and we'll see how they will do heading into the future.
