Gaming Influence: Predictions - Game Awards 2024 ~ Part 1

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, I will not only be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series but also on video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

For this edition of Gaming Influence, I'll be giving my predictions for the 2024 Game Awards which will be airing the show live worldwide on December 12, 2024. I'm definitely excited for the game announcements and trailers for the show as anything can happen from all of the video game companies so we'll see what they got.

However, these predictions do not focus on what games will appear on the show but on the awards themselves, as I won't be doing all of them. This year, I will make sixteen predictions for sixteen categories for the Game Awards. In addition, these predictions will be separated into four parts so this is Part 1 of my Game Awards predictions which will include Most Anticipated Game in 2025, Best Multiplayer Game of the Year, Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year, and Best Family Game of the Year. Plus, I'll first give my thoughts on the game itself for the category they're under before giving my predictions on which game I think and want to win the award.

Anyway, let's get started!

We'll start with this category, the Most Anticipated Game in 2025.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is an action-adventure game developed by Kojima Productions where it's the sequel to one of the most innovative games in a while with Death Stranding. Death Stranding was one of the most unique games I've played when it first came out as it differed from everything I played. The world exploration, the story, and the characters really drove this world to life and I’m really looking forward to the sequel to see how they will expand it. For these reasons, this game has every right to be the most anticipated game in 2025.

Ghost of Yōtei is an action-adventure game developed by Sucker Punch Productions where it's the sequel to one of the most beautiful worlds to explore and to be in with Ghost of Tsushima. Ghost of Tsushima was one of my favorite games when it first came out as it has a beautiful world to explore, and the combat was so smooth as it really felt like a shogun during that era. Ghost of Yōtei is looking to expand that with a new area to explore and a new protagonist to play and because of that, this game has every right to be the Most Anticipated Game in 2025.

Grand Theft Auto VI is an action-adventure game developed by Rockstar Games where it's another game in the beloved franchise filled with chaos and fun, Grand Theft Auto. The last Grand Theft Auto game was Grand Theft Auto V which was released in 2013 on PS3 and Xbox 360, so it has been twelve years since a new original Grand Theft Auto game. Despite not seeing much of it and knowing what Grand Theft Auto is about, this game has every right to be the Most Anticipated Game in 2025.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is an action-adventure game developed by Retro Studios where it's another game in the beloved franchise that made Metroid into a 3D Metroidvania, Metroid Prime. The last mainline Metroid Prime game was Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, released in 2007 on Wii. It’s been seventeen years since the previous Metroid Prime game which is insane and what we’ve seen from it looks incredible. Due to that reason, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has every right to be the Most Anticipated Game in 2025.

Monster Hunter Wilds is an action role-playing game developed by Capcom where it's another game in the beloved franchise that continues to grow its fanbase in the West, Monster Hunter. Each new Monster Hunter game continues to expand and with Monster Hunter Wilds, they look to continue just that as it looks to be bigger than ever and it looks to be an open world, but hard to say at this point. Regardless, with each new Monster Hunter game, they generally deliver, and it has every right to be the Most Anticipated Game in 2025.

In terms of which game, I think will be the Most Anticipated Game in 2025, I think the winner will be Grand Theft Auto VI. As I mentioned previously, it's been twelve years since the last mainline Grand Theft Auto game and there's a reason why the moment the trailer got released, it got millions of views right away as that series is quite huge. Plus, the Game Awards' judges are huge fans of Rockstar Games so with both the judges and the fans being hyped for this game, I believe that Grand Theft Auto VI will be the Most Anticipated Game in 2025.

In terms of which game I want to be the Most Anticipated Game in 2025, I want it to be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. For all of the other nominations in this category, as much as I'm excited for all of them, I'm mainly excited for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond the most since we didn't have a new original mainline Metroid Prime game since 2007, and we got to see some gameplay for the game too which looks incredible. Even though it has no chance of winning since Grand Theft Auto VI is going to take it no matter what, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is my Most Anticipated Game in 2025.

Next, we'll talk about this category, Best Multiplayer Game of the Year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and Raven Software as it's one of the most popular franchises when it comes to first-person shooters, Call of Duty. Despite not being a Call of Duty fan, can’t deny that the series is great when it comes to multiplayer as it usually excels in that area. Due to that, it has every right to be the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year.

Helldivers II is a cooperative third-person shooter developed by Arrowhead Game Studios as it's one of the more popular co-op shooters today. Despite the game having a rough launch and questionable decisions at the beginning with people needing to have a PSN account to play, they changed that around and fixed a lot of issues of the game where anyone can play for the better. Due to the fun co-op play and how much the game has improved since its launch, it has every right to be the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is a party game developed by Nintendo Cube as it's the biggest Mario Party game ever at this current time. This is the Mario Party game that people wanted for a long time It is new and original but also stays true to what Mario Party is all about which is about the boards and the mini-games they deliver. Plus, you get to play with people online up to 20 players which is insane and because of all of those reasons, it has the right to be the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year.

Tekken 8 is a fighting game developed by Bandai Namco as it's the next generation of one of the more popular fighting game franchises, Tekken. Tekken was always a fun multiplayer game and Tekken 8 was no different as the gameplay is still fun with a pretty good roster as they’re still adding new fighters with fighter passes currently. Due to those reasons, this game has a reason to be the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a third-person shooter hack and slash game developed by Saber Saint Petersburg as it's one of the more talked about Warhammer games in recent memory. Despite not being into Warhammer that much, it’s impressive that a lot of people are into this game compared to other Warhammer games which is a huge success for them. For that, it has a right to be the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year.

In terms of which game, I think will be the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year, I think the winner will be Helldivers II. Despite the game having a rough launch, over time, the game did a lot better as time went on and it has a pretty good fanbase overall with some fun gameplay. Plus, with the Game Awards' judges tend to favor PlayStation mostly, I can see Helldivers II being the one to win Best Multiplayer Game of the Year.

In terms of which game, I want to be the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year, I want it to be Super Mario Party Jamboree. As I mentioned earlier, this is the biggest Mario Party game up to date where it pretty much accomplished everything, I wanted in a Mario Party game. From the fun and unique boards, the number of mini-games to play, and the fact that you can play up to 20 players online is insanity. Therefore, I want Super Mario Party Jamboree to win Best Family Game of the Year.

Next, we'll talk about this category, Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year.

Age of Mythology: Retold is a real-time strategy game developed by World's Edge, Tantalus Media, and Forgotten Empires it's a remaster of the real-time strategy game back in 2002 released on PC, Age of Mythology. Even though it’s a remaster, they definitely brought this game to new life with not only new graphics but better QoL improvements to have a better overall experience of the game itself. Due to how well this game was remastered, it has every right to be the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year.

Frostpunk 2 is a city-building survival game developed by 11 Bits Studios as it's the sequel to the city-building survival game, Frostpunk. Even though there has been improvement from the first game, the game definitely could be a lot better than what it was so really questioned why this game would be here in this category. Regardless, cool to see the game on here even though I don’t believe it deserves to be the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year.

Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is an action-strategy game developed by Capcom as it's one of the most unique games by combining action and strategy into one. This is a brand-new IP from Capcom and this game is really fun as it brought in a great combination of action and strategy into one. Due to the game being unique among other strategy games out there, it deserved to be Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year.

Manor Lords is a medieval city-builder and real-tactics game developed by Slavic Magic as it's one of the city-builder and real-tactics games that is set in medieval times. Despite not playing the game that much myself, from what I’ve played and seen, it’s impressive how much you can build, and there is a lot of strategy that you can use within this game. Due to the variety of how much you can do in this game, it has every right to be the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year.

Unicorn Overlord is a tactical role-playing game developed by Vanillaware as it's a new IP from Atlus exploring the strategy game genre. This game is like Fire Emblem where it’s a tactical strategy game, but also its own thing too which I never expected Atlus and Vanillaware to make. However, it’s a lot of fun and there’s a lot you can do in the game as well which has every right to be the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year.

In terms of which game, I think will be the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year, I think the winner will be Unicorn Overlord. To me, Vanillaware has been on a tear as of late with their releases of games and Unicorn Overlord is no different as the art style of this game is beautiful and unique as well as the gameplay being fun and strategic. Plus, Game Awards' judges do love Atlus games so I wouldn't be as surprised as well as they picked Unicorn Overlord to win here too. Due to those reasons, I can see Unicorn Overlord winning the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year.

In terms of which game I want to be the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year, I also wish the winner to be Unicorn Overlord. As I mentioned previously, Vanillaware has been killing it with their games as of late as they were able to develop a fun tactical strategy game which I didn't expect they were able to pull off, but they did. With the fans and the judges behind the game as well, I think it has a high chance of winning this category and I really want to win it too because it deserves it I feel.

Finally, we'll talk about this category, Best Family Game of the Year.

Astro Bot is a platformer developed by Team Asobi as it's a love letter to the history of PlayStation in a 3D platformer setting. I love Astro's Playroom as that game was a preview of what a full Astro game would be and Astro Bot delivered on that front. The game really felt like a Super Mario game, but it's on PlayStation. That's just crazy and I love it because it's charming and anyone can play it including families. Due to those reasons, it has every right to be the Best Family Game of the Year.

Princess Peach: Showtime! is an action-adventure game developed by Good-Feel where it's a brand-new adventure for Princess Peach as she's the protagonist of this game. It's been so long since we got a game that featured Peach as the protagonist which was Super Princess Peach on the Nintendo DS in 2005 which is nineteen years which is crazy. Unlike Super Princess Peach, I really enjoyed Princess Peach: Showtime! as the gameplay was fun and the different areas to play in with the different costumes and abilities were charming as well which families can participate in. Therefore, it has every right to win the Best Family Game of the Year.

Super Mario Party Jamboree is a party game developed by Nintendo Cube. As I mentioned before, this is the biggest Mario Party up to date where it delivers in the multiplayer aspect, but also the family aspect. The reason why is that there are many options to choose from for players no matter the age when it comes to boards, mini-games, and how many people can play at the same which is great when it comes to bringing people together. Due to those reasons, it has every right to be the Best Family Game of the Year.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is an action-adventure game developed by Nintendo and Grezzo as it's a new original 2D Zelda game where Zelda is the protagonist of this game. We've been waiting for a new original 2D Zelda game since Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds which was released on Nintendo 3DS in 2013. It has been eleven years since then which is insane and the fact that we can play as Zelda which is something people wanted for decades is incredible and it delivered on that front. The art style in this game is pretty much similar to Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening as it was different and charming at the same time which can grab a lot of people's attention including family members. Due to that reason, it has every right to be the Best Family Game of the Year.

The Plucky Squire is an action-adventure game developed by All Possible Futures as it's bringing 2D and 3D adventure into one. This was one of my most anticipated indie games and it turned out great even though I feel like there are things that this game could've done better. Regardless, we can't deny that the game has beautiful graphics and art style in both 2D and 3D. Due to the charm and personality that the game has, it can draw a lot of people in including families which has a right to be the Best Family Game of the Year.

In terms of which game, I think will be the Best Family Game of the Year, I think the winner will be Astro Bot. A lot of fans love this game and rightfully so as it oozes charm and family-friendliness when it comes to its art style as well as gameplay controls where anyone can play. Not only that, as I mentioned before, Game Awards' judges tend to favor PlayStation a lot so I wouldn't be surprised if this game wins Best Family Game of the Year as I believe it deserves it.

In terms of which game I want to be the Best Family Game of the Year, I also wish the winner to be Astro Bot. Just like I mentioned earlier, this game pretty much showcases what a family game is where it is accessible to anyone at any age due to the art style being charming and family-friendly as well as the gameplay being simple to play in terms of control. With both the fans and the Game Awards' judges being behind this game, I could see this game winning Best Family Game of the Year and I hope it does as well, but won't be mad if the other games in this category won it because they earned it too.

Those are my predictions for the Most Anticipated Game in 2025, the Best Multiplayer Game of the Year, the Best Sim/Strategy Game of the Year, and the Best Family Game of the Year for the Game Awards.
