Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Gaming Influence, a reboot of the same name I created in WrestleCorp. However, I will not only be giving my thoughts on certain video games and video game series but also on video game movies, video game anime, video game digital presentations, etc.

I'll give my thoughts on Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20, 2024, for this edition of Gaming Influence.

Before I start, only some games shown in this presentation will be discussed as I will mainly talk about games that I care about and am interested in. If the games you care about and are interested in don't show up here, don't take it personally, I have nothing against the games, but they're just not for me or it's just I don't have much to say about them except cool. However, if you're happy with the games that you care about and are interested in I have nothing to say about it, good for you and I'm happy for you.

Anyway, let's get started!

For those who are wondering, what is Gamescom Opening Night Live? Well, to get more details on what Gamescom Opening Night Live is, you can check out this article/editorial right here: Gaming Influence: Thoughts - Gamescom Opening Night Live 2023.

With that out of the way, let's get to it!

DAVE THE DIVER is an adventure role-playing game developed and published by Mintrocket. mxmtoon, Balatro, and Potion Craft are coming to the game as DLC as it'll be available for Switch, PS5, PS4, and PC this October.

Dang, DAVE THE DIVER continues to have crossovers that I didn't expect, but this was cool to see as each crossover has its own theme and special feature to it like mxmtoon with the music, Balatro with the card game, and Potion Craft crafting items. This will add many more activities, so that's always a good thing. Looking forward to this DLC when it comes out in two months.

Begone Beast is a spooky top-down action game developed and published by Tandemi where the game is set to be released on PC in early 2025.

This definitely looks to be an interesting action horror game where it definitely looks fun when it comes to co-op. I expect a lot of scares and surprises whether you play the game on your own or with others. Looking forward to seeing more of this game down the line when it comes out early next year.

Nikoderiko: The Magical World is a platformer developed by Vea Games and published by Knights Peak. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch this October.

Wow, this game really looks like a mix of Donkey Kong Country and Crash Bandicoot and I'm here for it! However, the game definitely is inspired by Donkey Kong Country with the 2D platforming with the collectibles especially with the letters. Plus, the game's music is composed by David Wise too so more inspiration from Donkey Kong Country. Looking forward to seeing more of this game and playing it for myself when it comes out in two months.

Enotria The Last Song is a soulslike game developed and published by Jyamma Games where the game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on September 19, 2024.

This looks to be another fun soulslike game with its gameplay as it looks to be challenging, but fun as well. I really love the aesthetics of the game and the bosses are well designed too as well as having a beautiful art style. Looking forward to trying out this game when it comes out next month.

Cairn is an adventure game developed and published by The Game Bakers where the game is set to be released on PC in the future.

We've seen this game back in Day of the Devs at Summer Game Fest and this game continues to look very stressful as it's all about rock climbing. However, the game does look fun and really enjoy the art style this game is going for. Hope to see more of this game down the line and see a release date of the game soon.

We Harvest Shadows is a horror farming simulation game developed and published by David Wehle as the game will be released on PC in the future.

Dang, a game that is Animal Crossing, but also stressful too?! That's definitely unique and interesting. This game definitely has a lot of potential where it seems simple and relaxing, but also terrifying as there are things you aren't able to do and are being watched as well. The fact that the game also has a demo is quite awesome and hope to see more of this game in the future.

TRIBE NINE is an extreme role-playing game developed and published by Akatsuki Games as the game is set to be released on PC in the future.

Oh dang, I remember that this series was going to get a game, but didn't expect it to show up here so that was a surprise. This game is being developed by the Danganronpa team and the fact that this game is action RPG is quite interesting. They got the mascot and everything too with classic pixel art and modern 3D art too. Very curious to see how this game will turn out as the gameplay looks fun and hope to see more of it in the future.

Street Fighter 6 is a fighting game developed and published by Capcom. Terry from Fatal Fury will be a DLC character for the game that is released on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in the future.

We got the announcement of Terry being in Street Fighter back at Summer Game Fest and got a tease with him at EVO. Now, we got the gameplay trailer of Terry and he looks amazing. He even has his costume for Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves which is also awesome. Glad to see the resurgence of Fatal Fury and Terry being in Street Fighter is just perfect as it goes back to the SNK Vs. Capcom days so I'm here for it! Looking forward to trying out Terry in Street Fighter 6 in the future.

Borderlands 4 is an action role-playing first-person shooter developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. The game is set to be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2025.

Very cool to see that there'll be a new Borderlands game as the last Borderlands game was made in 2019 with Borderlands 3 so this is quite exciting. Very curious to see what direction that they'll be going with this new game and what new features that they'll add to the gameplay. Hope to see actual gameplay of it down the line once it comes out next year.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a first-person shooter co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision. The game is set to be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on October 25, 2024.

Even though I fell off from the Call of Duty series for a while now, I can't deny that the game looks great for what it is. The story seems quite interesting for what's taking place as well as the gameplay looks to be your standard Call of Duty gameplay which isn't a bad thing at all. We'll see how the overall game will turn out once it's released in two months.

Goat Simulator: Remastered is a remaster of an action game developed and published by Coffee Stain Studios, Goat Simulator. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X, PS5, and PC this year.

Wow, didn't expect a remaster of this game which is totally unexpected, but very cool to see. Goat Simulator originally released in 2014 so a decade later, a remaster of the game is made so that's great. We'll see what else they improve on with this remaster besides graphics so hope to see more when it comes out later this year.

Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis: The Answer is DLC for the role-playing game developed and published by Atlus, Persona 3 Reload, where Joker from Persona 5 will be a special boss in the game. The DLC is set to be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on September 10, 2024.

Whoever see this coming?! In all seriousness, Joker from Persona 5 appearing here shouldn't be a surprise at all, but still great to see him in the game regardless. Really looking forward to re-experiencing The Answer, but in Persona 3 Reload Episode Aigis with the options that they have that wasn't in the original game. Looking forward to trying it out in a few weeks.

Black Myth: Wukong is an action role-playing game developed and published by Game Sciene as the game is available now on PS5 and PC.

We've been waiting for this game to finally released and it's finally out now which is great. This trailer is pretty much the launch trailer for the game and it looks incredible. From what I've played with this game so far, it's a lot of fun, but definitely challenging as in ways, it felt like a soulslike game. If you're into soulslike games, you'll enjoy Black Myth: Wukong.

DRAGON BALL: Sparking ZERO! is a fighting game developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on October 11, 2024.

The game continues to look amazing every time we see a new trailer for it as the game continues to get closer and closer to release date. The story mode that they have for the game looks interesting and the mass amount of characters that they have in this game is insane. The special editions that they have continue to have a lot of content too which is awesome. I'm looking forward to playing this once it comes out in two months.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark is an action roguelike game developed and published by FuzzyBot where the game is set to be released on PC on October 22, 2024.

This looks to be a fun co-op game to play with friends as I really dig the art style as well. The combat is basically hack-and-slash from what I've seen which I can get down by and the challenges that the players can do here look fun as well. Very curious to see how this game will turn out as it'll be released in two months.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is an adventure game developed and published by Don't Nod where the game will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC with Tape 1 on February 18, 2025, and Tape 2 on March 18, 2025.

We've seen this game before, but now, we actually got gameplay for the game and it's looking great. This is pretty much similar to Life is Strange in terms of gameplay so this is going to be interesting as the story seems quite intriguing too. It also looks like they're making separate episodes for this game as well so we'll see how that turns out and hope to see more of it soon when it comes out in seven to eight months.

Infinity Nikki is a cross-platform open-world dress-up adventure game developed and published by Papergames where the game will be coming to PS5 in the future.

This is the game we saw back at the PlayStation State of Play back in May three months ago as we got another trailer and it continues to look beautiful. Despite not showing any gameplay here, the game still has a certain charm to it that makes it stand out which I appreciate a lot. Hope to see more of this game in the future down the line.

Dune Awakening is a open-world survival massive multiplayer online game developed and published by Funcom where it'll be released on PC in early 2025 as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X in the future.

After seeing this game numerous times without any gameplay for the past few years, we finally got it and it actually looks quite good. They're definitely taking advantage of the environment and atmospehere as it looks to be massive with tons of exploration which should be a lot of fun. There's also a lot of customization as well with the tanks, planes, etc. which is nice. We'll see how this game will turn out after years of development as it'll be released early next year.

REANIMAL is a co-op horror adventure game developed by Tarsier Studios and published by THQ Nordic. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in the future.

This looks to be similar to Little Nightmares, but an emphasis on animals which is quite creepy and I'm there for it. This game is developed by the team that did the first two Light Nightmares games which is awesome and that's why it has the Light Nightmares vibe to it. Looking forward to seeing more of this game in the future.

Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game developed and published by miHoYo where the game will be released on Xbox Series X on November 20, 2024.

Great to see this game coming to Xbox as this is a huge get for Xbox here. The new update for the game looks great too with the new characters being added where they have pretty cool character designs. For those who enjoy gacha action RPGs, this is the game for you and if you have a Xbox, get the game on Xbox. You won't be disappointed.

Monster Hunter Wilds is an action role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2025.

Every time we see a new trailer for this game, I continue to be impressed and it looks incredible. The new monsters look terrifying and it should be a lot of fun to face them as the story also continues to be interesting as well. Looking forward to seeing more of this game when it comes out next year.

NAKARA: BLADEPOINT is a free-to-play action battle royale game developed by 24 Entertainment and published by NetEase Games Montreal. Lara Croft from Tomb Raider will be a playable character in the game and it'll be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on August 28, 2024.

Dang, didn't expect a crossover for this game right here and I'm here for it as Lara Croft from Tomb Raider is an interesting fit here. The character model for Lara Croft in NAKARA: BLADEPOINT looks pretty good as well. We'll see how she plays in this game as she'll be released next week.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is a fighting game developed and published by SNK where the game will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and PC on April 24, 2025.

Alright, we finally got to see Mai Shiranui in action and she looks amazing, gameplay wise and character design wise. She even got her classic outfit too which is nice. Plus, her new outfit is censored too so Masahiro Sakurai, add her to the next Super Smash Bros. game whether it's a playable character or a cameo! Thank you. In all seriousness, great to see Mai Shiranui back in Fatal Fury as she should and the special edition of the game gets you the first season DLC pass along with Terry's Fatal Fury 2 costume is awesome. Looking forward to this game and playing it once it comes out in eight months.

Mecha BREAK is a multiplayer mech game developed and published by Seasun Games where the game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC in the future.

We've seen trailers for this game multiple times in the past so great to see another trailer for the game as it looks to be co-op in this game which is always a great thing. This looks to be fun chaos and the fact that we haven't gotten a release date tells me that they're taking their time with this game, but we'll have to wait and see. Hope to see more of this game when it comes out in the future.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII ia 4X game developed by Friaxis Games and published by 2K. The game is set to be released on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, and Switch on February 11, 2025.

We saw the announcement of this game back at Summer Game Fest, but now, we finally got gameplay for the game and it looks great. It looks like they're going to expand upon the previous Civilization games and continue to evolve it from there. Great to see and hope to see more of this game as we also got a release date for the game too as we'll get it in six months.

Age of Mythology: Retold is a real-time strategy game developed by World's Edge and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on September 4, 2024.

We've seen this game multiple times from Xbox in the past, but we now finally got a release date for the game as it's coming out sooner than expected. This is definitely a remake/reboot of the first game while using past games to modernize it for a better experience for the new players to play. Really looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out as it'll be released in a few weeks.

Towerborne is a free-to-play side-scrolling action-adventure game developed by Stoic and published by Xbox Game Studios. The game is set to be released on PC and Xbox Series X in the future with early access to the game on September 10, 2024.

This game was showcased back at the Xbox Games Showcase in 2023 so glad to see this game being developed nice and smoothly. This game continues to look like a lot of fun in terms of action and co-op play. We're getting an early access to the game too which comes out in a few weeks as well. Looking forward to trying it out to see how it is and hope they used that early access to improve the game once it's released.

Kingdom Come Deliverance II is an action role-playing game developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on February 11, 2025.

The last time we saw this game was back at Summer Game Fest two months ago, but now we got a release date for the game which is great to see. Glad to see that the game will still has its humor in a serious setting just like with the first game which should be a lot of fun. Looking forward to playing this game when it comes out in six months.

Honkai: Star Rail is a role-playing gacha game developed and published by miHoYo. The game will cross over with Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works releasing on PC and PS5 on Q3 2025.

Oh, wow! This isn't a crossover that I didn't expect, but this is awesome! I can totally see Fate/stay night actually going pretty well with Honkai: Star Rail so looking forward to seeing Saber and other Fate/stay night characters in this game. It'll be a while, but I can't wait for this crossover next year.

Herdling is an adventure game developed by Okomotive and published by Panic. The game is set to be released on PC in 2025.

This looks to be a very cozy game for the time being as you'll be herding animals on your adventure. I like the art style of the game and the game seem pretty chill too. Hope to see more of this game down the line when it comes out next year.

Masters of Albion is an action strategy game developed and published by 22Cans where the game will be released on PC in the future.

This game really gives me Black & White vibes which makes sense since this game is developed by the team that did Black & White which is awesome. This game looks to be a combination of strategy similar to Black & White with some action in the combat when characters are fighting against each other which is cool. Hope to see more of this game down the line when it comes out in the future.

Unknown 9 Awakening is an action-adventure game developed by Reflector Entertainment and published by Bandai Namco. The game is set to be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC on October 18, 2024.

We've seen this game multiple times in the past already, but now, we got a release date for the game which is coming a lot closer than expected. This game continues to look great in terms of its combat and its story is quite interesting along with very interesting characters as well. Very curious to see how this game will turn out overall and it comes out in two months so looking forward to it.

Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred is an expansion for the online-only action role-playing dungeon crawling game developed and published by Blizzard, Diablo IV. The expansion is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on October 8, 2024.

We've seen back at Summer Game Fest, but that was a cinematic trailer with no gameplay. However, with this trailer, we actually got gameplay and it looks to be a lot of fun. The story continues to be intriguing as well so we'll see how the final product will be when the expansion comes out in two months.

The First Berserker: Khazan is an action game developed by Neople and published by Nexon. The game is set to be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X in early 2025 with a closed beta test on October 11 to 20, 2024.

The last time we saw this game was back at the Game Awards last year so it's great to see this game again with some progress. This game continues to look great with its action combat as it looks smooth and fun to play. The story continues to be interesting and I'm really digging the art style for this game as well. Looking forward to seeing how this game turns out overall when it comes out early next year.

Floatopia is a life simulation game developed and published by Hong Kong NetEase Interactive Entertainment Limited where the game will be released on PS5, Switch, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2025.

Man, this looks to be a very cozy and chill game as I really dig the chibi art style that this game is going for which is nice. This looks to be Animal Crossing mixed with Harvest Moon into one which I'm all for it. Hope to see more of this game down the line once it's released next year.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an action-adventure game developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda. The game is set to be released on Xbox Series X and PC on December 9, 2024, and PS5 in Spring 2025.

After seeing this game earlier this year, we finally got a release date for the game and it's great to see. The fact that this game is also coming to PS5 too is huge as well as it's great to see that this game will be played on other systems besides Xbox Series X and PC since Bethesda is publishing the game. This looks to be a fun adventure game and looking forward to seeing how this game will turn out once it's released in four months.

Mafia: The Old Country is an action-adventure game developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K. The game is set to be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in the future.

Dang, didn't expect that there would be a new original Mafia game, but here we are. The last original Mafia game was Mafia III in 2016 so it'll be nearly a decade since the last one and according to the president of Hangar 13, they're looking to go back to the roots of the first Mafia game which is quite interesting. Wished that we saw gameplay of this game, but the fact that a new Mafia game is coming is awesome regardless. Hope to see more of this game down the line.

Overall, this was a solid presentation from Geoff Keighley and his team. Similar to Summer Game Fest, I feel like the pacing has gotten a lot better over the years as they continue to improve. Though, just like Summer Game Fest, it was lacking the big new game announcements I feel like personally. However, they had pretty good trailers for the games that they already announced and the new game announcements that were announced were huge, but nothing major personally I feel like. Also, the Secret Level show on Amazon TV looks awesome and so many video game references too. That's going to be fun. Hope that Gamescom Opening Night Live continues to get better each year.
